Operation and Use Questions

DANGER
Personal injury. NEVER attempt to dislodge debris
from discharge chute or hopper while unit is running.
The cutting blades can start again at any moment, which will
result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
Call Generac Customer Service at 1-888-GENERAC (1-
888-436-3722) with questions or concerns about unit
operation and maintenance.

Before Starting Engine

WARNING
Consult Manual. Read and understand manual
completely before using product. Failure to
completely understand manual and product
could result in death or serious injury.
WARNING
Equipment damage. Do not attempt to start or operate
a unit in need of repair or scheduled maintenance.
Doing so could result in serious injury, death, or
equipment failure or damage.
CAUTION
Equipment damage. Verify hopper, chipper chute, and
discharge chute are clear of debris before starting.
Failure to do so could result in property or equipment
damage.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Unit is shipped without oil. Add
engine oil before starting. See
instructions.
1. Check engine oil level.
2. Check fuel level.
3. Inspect unit for damage.
4. Check tire pressure.
5. Visually inspect chipper knife for damage.

Adding Engine Oil

Starting the Unit

WARNING
Risk of fire. Never operate engine without the
carburetor air intake cover installed. Doing so
could result in death or serious injury.

3-1. Set fuel shutoff valve (A) to open.
3. Inspect inlet hoppers and discharge chute.
Remove any debris buildup. See

4. Set choke control lever (B) to choke. Leave in run
position if engine is already warm.
5. Set throttle control lever (C) to fast position.
6. Grasp recoil starter handle (D) and slowly pull until
resistance is felt, then pull cord rapidly to start
engine.
NOTE: The engine will usually start within one or two
pulls.
7. Move choke to the run position as engine warms
up. Wait until engine runs smoothly before making
each adjustment.
8. When engine has warmed and running smoothly,
verify choke fully in the run position and the throttle
control lever is set to fast for chipping and shred-
ding.
