l) Exterior metal chimneys must be built with double insulated tubes,
specifically for solid fuels.
Hergóm provides the following accessories for this H-03 Cast Iron Wood
Burner.
Steel tubing in vitrified enamel.
Stainless steel tubing.
Elbows and caps for building the chimney.
IV. - IGNITION AND POWER REGULATION
A. - First ignition.
Once installed in its definitive location, the sealing of the joints must be checked to
prevent air entering from outside which might be detrimental to the pull.
Prior to covering the wood burner with brick or any other fireproof material, it is
important to check that it is functioning correctly.
The first ignition must be carried out with a low heat over three or four hours, so as to
stabilise the various parts and thus prevent any possible breakage.
It is advisable during the first ignition to have the windows open to let smoke and
smells escape; these may be produced due to the combustion of protective paint thinners or
any other material.
B. - Primary air. Regulations
The introduction of air for combustion
is carried out through the primary air valve.
In order to aid ignition and prevent the
formation of tar, it is advisable to open the
primary air valve completely, so as to allow
plenty of air to flow for combustion.
This situation must be maintained at
the start of ignition, with the aim of making the
wood burner to heat up rapidly, preventing
the formation of condensation and tar
(creosote).
It is essential to use plenty of fuel in
the ignition. The following loads will depend
on how much heat which is required.
Once hot the wood burner must start to
regulate the introduction of primary air for
combustion.
