WARNING:
• To reduce the risk of electrical shock, replace a damaged cord
immediately. Failure to do so may result in death or serious
personal injury due to electrocution.
• Always test the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) before
each use of the spa. If the GFCI does not perform properly, a
ground current is fl owing indication the possibility of electric
shock. Disconnect power to the spa until the fault has been
identifi ed and corrected.
NOTE: Failure to wait 30 seconds before resetting the GFCI
may cause the spa's Power Indicator (on the control panel)
to blink. If this occurs, repeat the GFCI test procedure.
• Install the spa so proper drainage is provided for the
compartment containing the electrical components.
DANGER: RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK
• Install spa at least 1.5 m from all metal surfaces. A spa may be
installed within 1.5 m of a metal surface if each metal surface
is permanently connected solid copper conductor attached to
the wire equipotential connector on the terminal box that is
provided for this purpose.
• Do not permit any electrical appliances, such as a light,
telephone, radio, or television within 1.5 m of a spa. Failure
to maintain a safe distance may result in death, or serious
personal injury due to electrocution, if the appliance should
fall into the spa.
• Install your spa in such a way that drainage is away from the
electrical compartment and from all electrical components.
DO:
• Be sure your spa is connected to the power supply correctly
- use a licensed electrical contractor.
• Test the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter(s) before each use.
DON'T:
• Use the spa with the equipment compartment door removed.
• Place electrical appliances within 1.5m of the spa.
• Use an extension cord to connect the spa to its power source.
The cord may not be properly grounded and the connection
is a shock hazard. An extension cord may cause a voltage
drop, which will cause overheating of the jet pump motor and
motor damage.
• Attempt to open the electrical control box. There are no user
serviceable parts inside.
The product's supporting structure is metallic. An effi cient
ground system is therefore required, with sensitivity meeting
the relevant standards.
GROUNDWIRE.
The ground wire must be connected and fi xed permanently
to the electrical system.
EQUIPOTENTIAL CONNECTION.
The equipment must be connected to the equipotential
system of the room and duly fastened to its terminal to be
found in the product.
SPA START-UP
CAUTION: Only qualifi ed personnel must carry out the
preliminary checks on the system and make any adjustments.
CAUTIONS
• The spa is fi tted with a thermostatic mixer set at 38°C. It
is advisable not to fi ll the spa with water at a temperature
above 40°C, as it might trigger the safety thermostat.
• Do not use your spa after fi lling until all of the steps listed
below are completed.
• Do not add chlorine if treating your spa with
polyhexamethylene biguanide (Biguanide, PHMB)
sanitizer.
• Before fi lling your spa for the fi rst time, check to ensure
that the unions on either side of the pumpare hand-tight.
• Activate power to the subpanel from the main house panel fi rst.
• After the equipment compartment door is secured, power must
be applied to the spa.
• Close the drain and fi ll the spa using the "SPA FILLING"
key on the keypad on the edge of the tub (see Spa use and
maintenance manual).
• In general, when the spa is fi lled for the fi rst time, the water
temperature is lower than the set point set by the factory 38°C).
For this reason, the circulation pump and heater are turned on.
In any case the control panel will display the temperature of
the water in the tub.
IMPORTANT: SET THE DURATION OF THE FILTRATION
CYCLE, DISABLED BY DEFAULT (SEE THE KEYPAD
OPERATION MANUAL, CHAPTER "PROGRAMMING THE
FILTRATION CYCLE").
• Adjust Total Alkalinity (TA) to 125 ppm, Calcium Hardness (CH)
to 150 ppm, then spa water pH to between 7.4 and 7.6. These
procedures are listed in the "Water Quality and Maintenance"
section.
IMPORTANT: Add spa water chemicals directly over the fi lter
compartment with the jet pump on for at least ten minutes.
OPERATION NOTE: Adjusting the Total Alkalinity as the fi rst
step is important, as out-of balance TA will aff ect your ability
to adjust the pH correctly and will prevent the sanitizer from
operating eff ectively.
• Superchlorinate the spa water by adding 1-1/2 teaspoons of
chlorine (sodium dichlor) per 950 liters (250 gallons) of spa
water. Press the button "WHIRLPOOL JETS" twice on the
control panel, this will run the jet pump for a total of 20 minutes
to circulate the spa water.
• Set the temperature control to the desired temperature 38°-
40°C (between 100°- 104°F), then place the vinyl cover on the
spa and allow the water temperature to stabilize (approximately
24 hours). Make sure you secure the cover in place using the
cover locks. Periodically check the spa water temperature.
When the water temperature climbs above 32°C, proceed to
the next step.
• Press the button "WHIRLPOOL JETS" twice on the control
panel, this will run the jet pump for a total of 20 minutes to
circulate the spa water. Once the jets shut off , test the spa
water for Free Available Chlorine (FAC) residual. If the residual
is between 3 and 5 ppm, go on to the next step. If the residual
is less than 3 ppm, superchlorination is required.
• Recheck the Total Alkalinity (TA) at 125 ppm, Calcium Hardness
(CH) at 150 ppm, then spa water pH at between 7.4 and 7.6.
OPERATION NOTE: The spa is ready for use when the spa
water has circulated and the chlorine level remains between
3 ppm and 5ppm.
OPERATION NOTE: For proper water circulation during the
ten minute automatic clean cycle the following steps should
be performed.
Check the spa functions (See Guide to Use and Maintenance,
section ELECTRONIC DIGITAL KEYPAD).
Check the plumbing/water connections for leaks or other
problems.
