Product description

Before beginning work, the specialist staff must have read and understood the instructions
in the Operating Instructions and supplementary documentation as well as in the
certificates (depending on the application)
Following instructions and basic conditions
2.2

Designated use

• Active barrier with standard power supply for safe separation of 4 to 20 mA signal circuits
with an optional intrinsically safe input. The current transmitted from the transmitter to
the input circuit (4 to 20 mA) is linearly transmitted to the output. The unit is constructed
for mounting on a DIN rail according to IEC 60715.
• Measuring systems for use in hazardous environments are accompanied by separate "Ex
documentation", which is an integral part of these Operating Instructions. Strict compliance
with the installation instructions and connection values as stated in this supplementary
documentation is mandatory.
• The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage caused by misuse of the unit.
Changes must not be made to the unit.
• The unit has been designed for use in industrial areas and must only be used in an installed
condition.
• The barrier is manufactured using state of the art technology and complies to the IEC
61010-1 directives.
• Mechanical and electrical installation, setting up and maintenance of the unit must only be
carried out by skilled and qualified personnel. The skilled personnel must have read and
understood these installation and operating instructions. They must follow them carefully.
• Always make sure that the unit is correctly connected following the electrical connection
diagrams. The housing must not be opened.

Product description
The active barrier galvanically separates and supplies 4 to 20 mA signal circuits. At the
current input transmitters are connected, an additional power supply is therefore not
required. A current signal is available at the output (active output ) for connection to further
instrumentation. Bi-directional HART®-communication with SMART transmitters is possible
using the builtin communication sockets (with resistance R = 250 Ω).
