8. Depth Gauge
Assembly
Warning! Before assembly, make sure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged.
Fitting the side handle and depth guage (fig. A)
Turn the grip counterclockwise until you can slide the side
u
handle (7) onto the front of the tool as shown.
Rotate the side handle into the desired position ensuring
u
that the notches (7b) engage with the sprocket (7a).
Insert the depth guage (8) into the mounting hole (8a).
u
Set the drilling depth as described below.
u
Note: the side handle can be positioned, depending on
personal preference.
Fitting a drill bit
(fig. B)
This tool is fitted with a quick release chuck to allow for an
easy exchange of bits.
Warning! Make certain the tool is locked to prevent switch
actuation before installing or removing accessories.
Lock the tool by setting the forward/reverse slider (3) to
u
the centre position.
Insert the bit shaft (9) into the chuck (6) (Fig. C).
u
Note! To remove the bit/socket, pull and hold the chuck collar
(6) away from the front of the tool (Fig. C).
Fitting the keyed chuck (fig. C)
Fit the shank of the supplied chuck (10) into the tool
u
holder as described above.
Warning! Never use keyed chucks in the hammer drilling
mode.
Fitting accessories in the keyed chuck (fig. D)
Open the chuck by turning the sleeve.
u
Insert the bit shaft (12) into the chuck.
u
Insert the chuck key (11) into each hole in the side of the
u
chuck and turn until tight.

Warning! Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.
Warning! Before drilling into walls, floors or ceilings, check for
the location of wiring and pipes.
Selecting the drilling mode (fig. E)
To select a drilling mode, push button 5a and rotate the

For chiselling mode set the drilling mode selector (5) to

Selecting the direction of rotation (fig. F)
For drilling and for tightening screws, use forward
(clockwise) rotation. For loosening screws or removing a
jammed drill bit, use reverse (counter clockwise) rotation.
To select forward rotation, push the forward/reverse
u
switch (3) to the left position.
To select reverse rotation, push the forward/reverse
u
button to the right.
Warning! Never change the direction of rotation while the
motor is running.
Setting the drilling depth (fig. A)
Slacken the side handle (7) by turning the grip
u
counterclockwise.
Set the depth guage (8) to the desired position. The
u
maximum drilling depth is equal to the distance between
the tip of the drill bit and the front end of the depth guage.
Tighten the side handle by turning the grip clockwise.
u
Switching on and off
To switch the tool on, press the variable speed
u
switch (1). The tool speed depends on how far you
press the switch. Set the variable speed control knob (4)
to the required speed range.
As a general rule, use low speeds for large diameter drill
u
bits and high speeds for smaller diameter drill bits.
For continuous operation, press the lock-on button (2)
u
and release the variable speed switch. The lock on button
is available only at full speed in forward mode.
In the reverse mode, the lock on button is not available.
To switch the tool off, release the variable speed switch.
u
To switch the tool off when in continuous operation,
press the variable speed switch again and release it.
Always hold the tool as shown in figure H.
