Liability (complementing point Caution)

Neither the A.A.HABERKORN & Co GmbH nor its sales partners assume any liability for accidents in relation to the
present product and consequential personal and/or material damage, especially in cases of misuse and/or incorrect use.
In all cases the users are responsible for risks taken.

5 General notes for use

A.HABERKORN lanyards are made of polyester or polyamide yarn.
A.HABERKORN lanyards must not be combined with any other than CE-marked elements of personal fall protective equipment.
Their use with any kind of lifting device is not admissible.
The lanyards may only be increased or complemented with connectors according to EN 362, with lanyards according to EN 354 and
absorption elements according to EN 355. The total maximum length, the adjustable maximum lanyard length + karabiner + tape fall
absorber + other connectors must not exceed 2 m.
If a lanyard is used in a fall arrester system, a fall shock absorber must be installed reducing the maximum dynamic forces to 6 kN
max (e.g.: tape fall absorber according to EN 355). When used in a fall arrest system, a full body harness according to EN 361 is
obligatory.
For safety reasons it is always recommended to use fall arrest systems as restraint systems, because of the existing big residual risks
in case of a fall!
Before use in a fall arrester system ensure that the required free space is guaranteed in order to prevent impact on the ground, on
objects (e.g. scaffolding parts, machine parts, etc....) or swinging.
Lanyards without fall shock absorber may only be used for work positioning and in restraint systems.
The length of restraint systems must be chosen in a way that an eventual risk zone for a fall from a height cannot be reached.
If risk assessment of the place of use reveals the risk that the lanyard could be loaded over an edge, suitable precautionary measures
have to be taken to protect the lanyard from damage and break.
ATTENTION: The A.HABERKORN lanyard is unsuitable for use in a cage of boom-type platforms and
multifunctional devices! It is not approved for an edge load of a 180° deflection!
EXCEPTION: Lanyard VARIO HERKULES ARRESTER RH 60 1,8m Art.No 800674
The use of two lanyards with an absorption element each in parallel is not admitted!
The required length adjustment of the lanyard must not be carried out in areas at risk from falling from a
height! A slack lanyard should be avoided - it increases the fall distance / height of fall!
Knotted and/or entangled straps reduce the tensile strength of the slings up to 60%. Therefore any kind of knotted and
entangled straps must be avoided. The influence of moisture and ice can reduce the tensile strength and therefore the load
- the force of a fall can consequently lead to break / failure of the slings.
Lanyards must be discarded immediately after a load such as after a fall and must not be used anymore.
The A.HABERKORN lanyards must be protected from any kind of damage when being used (e.g.: sharp edges, rough
surfaces, sharp protruding parts). See also item: 2) Regulations for the owner of the equipment.
ATTENTION: The rope sheath of flame-resistant rope slings are made of ARAMID (see Product label- MAT.:
ARAMID). For this reason, they have a shortened lifetime.
Please protect them carefully from UV light exposure (sunlight) due to the missing long-term experience
regarding their operating life.
Provided that all instructions on safe handling, UV-light protected storage and transport are observed,
the following, non-binding indications on the lifespan can be recommended:
Intensive daily use
Regular use throughout the year
Regular seasonal use
Occasional use (once a month)
Sporadic use (with perfect UV-light protected handling)

6 Product specific notes

The general notes for use must be used, considered and followed with all below mentioned products and product groups!
The A.HABERKORN lanyards are available in different lengths. Always choose the optimum length for your respective use, in order
to avoid extensions with additional material or improper shortening.
The karabiner must not be loaded above its limits (see karabiner label) and must not be used for anything other than its intended use
(see karabiner instructions for use).
6.1 Single or double A.HABERKORN lanyards of straps or tube bands or ropes with fix
length or with stretch arms
These lanyards are available with or without tape fall absorber (according to EN355). Basically these lanyards are designed for
restraint systems and for fall arrest systems (according to EN 363). Lanyards without integrated tape fall absorber (according to EN
355), however, can also be combined with a tape fall absorber (according to EN 355), in order to have a fall arrest system (according
to EN 363). In this case the total maximum length must not exceed 2 m.
Assembly of the lanyard to a work positioning belt and / or a full body harness:
Lanyards must be attached to the work positioning belt or the full body harness with a karabiner (according to EN 362) or the end
loop.
An end loop must be inserted through a fall arrester eyelet on the work positioning belt and the rope or strap must be pulled through
the end loop starting with the karabiner hook. The karabiner hook must be hooked to the anchor point or, if looped round a pole, into
the second fall arrester eyelet - Secure the karabiner lock to avoid unintentional opening.
