Step-by-step instructions – using S1-E / S1-A contra-angle handpiece
1. Prepare the pulp chamber to enable good access to the canals to be prepared.
2. Apply rubber dam and disinfect the area. Irrigate using sodium hypochlorite solution throughout the cleaning procedure.
Never work in a dry root canal.
3. Locate all canals using a hand file.
4. Determine the working length. This should ideally be done by using an apex locator. Always use an X-ray for verification.
5. Use a hand file ISO size 15 to create a glide path until the determined working length is reached.
6. Use the S1 Files Standard 25/06 instrument with very light pressure apically applying a brushing movement peripherally in order
to remove irregularities while instrumenting. We recommend that you use the S1-E / S1-A contra-angle handpiece at maximum
motor speed.
7. Clean the instrument frequently as much debris can be produced with this type of instrument.
8. Once the S1 Files Standard 25/06 instrument reaches the full working length, the preparation is finished and if needed the apex
can be estimated and modified prior to obturation.
9. In case of need to widen the apical section of the root canal, use Big Apical Files together with, or as a complement to, the S1
Files. In curved root canals use Big Apical Files size ISO 35 )green( or size ISO 40 )black(. In straight root canals use Big Apica
Files size ISO 45 )white( or size ISO 50 )yellow(.
10. If necessary, use a hand file to check the apical dimension of the final preparation to determine the ISO size achieved in order
to choose correct dimension on the root-filling point.
