Notes
The quick-installation instructions are only applicable to ZOTAC motherboards.
ZOTAC ION series motherboard do not require CPU or CPU cooler installation
Make sure the system is turned off and power is disconnected from the wall before attempting to install components.
Ensure all components are compatible (CPU, memory, expansion cards) before beginning installation.
Always work on a solid and stable surface while installing hardware. Do not install components on a carpeted surface
to reduce the risk of damage from static.
Order of installation directions may vary depending on hardware components used.
Please consult the detailed motherboard manual for more detailed instructions.
Installing an Intel CPU
1. Unlatch the metal load plate by gently pulling the lever up to release tension. Gently lift up on the metal
load plate and remove the protective socket cover. Do not touch any of the pins in the CPU socket or
the pins may get damaged.
2. Hold the CPU by the edges using your thumb and index finger and align the CPU with the CPU socket,
designated by the small half-circle indentions on the CPU. Place the CPU into the socket. The CPU
should fit snugly in the socket.
3. Lower the metal load plate onto the CPU and then lower the lever. Apply a little pressure to secure the
lever so it locks the metal load plate into place.
Installing an AMD CPU
1. Release the CPU socket lever and raise it up completely.
2. Locate the triangle on the corner of the CPU and CPU socket and align them. Insert the CPU into the
socket with the triangles aligned. The CPU should fit into the socket with ease and should not require
any force to fall into place.
3. Once the CPU is snugly in the socket, lower the CPU socket lever to secure the CPU into place.
Note: Do not use excessive force to install a CPU.
If the CPU doesn't easily fit into the socket, check
the orientation of the CPU and realign the CPU
until it fits with ease. Using excessive force may
cause damage to the pins on the motherboard or
CPU and void warranties.
