Storage tank installation
• Measurements for installation:
The storage tank should be installed at
not more than 5m and with maximum
level difference of 3m with respect to
the indoor unit. It can be installed in the
same indoor room.
The storage tank must be installed
vertically, resting on the fl oor on
appropriate feet supplied (which must
be assembled by the user), never
suspended. The place of installation
must have a stable fl oor that can safely
support the weight of the tank full of
water and a solid wall to which the tank
can be fi xed using bolts (supplied),
in order to prevent vibrations. In the
design and installation phase, consider
the weight of the tank full of water.
• Notes for installation of the HBi WT/WTS storage tank:
• If the connection between the storage tank
and the MDW HB hydronic module should
pass through a wall, make a Ø 70 mm hole
for the passage of the connection pipes.
• The piping for the circulation of hot
and cold water in Input/Output must
be suitable to contain hot water. Piping
in PPR is recommended with nominal
external diameter DN25 and thickness
S2.5 (wall thickness of 4.2 millimetres). If
other isolated pipes are to be used, refer
to the dimensions stated above for external
diameter and thickness of the walls;
• Connect the safety valve (7 Mpa/7Bar)
directly onto the water tank input fi tting.
Connect the water fi lling pipe with fi lter
and shut-off valve. It must be in an easily
accessible position;
• Install a PPR drain pipe to the tank drain
fi tting;
• Install a shut-off valve on the water drain
pipe. It must be in an easily accessible
position;

To install the MDW HB hydronic
module and connect it to a HBi WT/
WTS storage tank, the maximum
limits between the two elements
must be respected.
It is recommended to install the
MDW HB hydronic module lower
with respect to the HBi WT/WTS
storage tank.
• When all of the water pipes have been
connected, carry out the sealing test. After
which, complete laying of the water piping
with water temperature probe, insulation
and cable troughs;
• For installation, refer to the layout in Fig. 2;
• The storage tank should be installed at
not more than 5m and with maximum level
distance of 3m with respect to the indoor
unit. It is recommended to make sure that
the connection piping between the units is
positioned in a way to cover the shortest and
most direct tract. For different requirements,
please contact the head offi ce;
• Use the materials with recommended
dimensions. If the shut-off valve is installed
outside, use PPR piping to prevent damage
due to ice;
• Do not make the hydraulic connections
before the unit has been installed. During
installation, protect the connections, pipes
and fi ttings from dust and impurities, which
must not penetrate into the system;

• After having connected all water piping,
carry out the sealing test; after which,
insulate the piping system. Pay particular
attention to the valves and fi ttings.
Guarantee suitable minimum thickness of
the isolating material and, if necessary,
install an anti-freeze device;
• The circulation of hot water from the
insulated tank depends on the water
pressure. Envision a suitable loading unit;
• During use, the water shut-off valve on
tank input, should be kept normally open;
