ASSEMBLY (continued)
9. Bleed any trapped air in the hydraulic system:
Air can accumulate in the hydraulic system during initial setup or after prolonged use, causing the cylinder to respond
slowly or in an unstable manner.
To remove the air,
1) With the cylinder lower than the pump and no load on the system, run the pump to extend and retract the cylinder
fully several times.
Air will be released through the pump reservoir.
10. Position the work bed for installing the cylinder:
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and/or equipment damage,
• A winch and cable assembly support the bolster when the bolster support pins are not in place. The winch
has a special friction brake for holding the bolster during positioning. The friction brake is NOT designed
to hold during a pressing operation nor will it hold a workload during positioning.
• Keep hands out from under the supported bolsters.
• Stay out from underneath the bolster.
A. Refer to Figure 5. Put a small amount of tension on the cable by cranking the winch up to take weight off the
pins at the end of the bolster adjacent to the winch. Remove the loose support pins out of the bolster.
B. Raise the other end of the bolster by pulling slightly on the handle grip until the two remaining support pins can be
removed. Remove the support pins.
C. Crank the winch for up movement of the bolster to position the work bed. Install all four support pins in the
bolsters and through the uprights completely so the spring pin in the support pin touches the bolster.
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and/or equipment damage,
• Bolster support pins MUST be installed correctly to prevent injury. Insert the pins completely through the
bolster and the front and back uprights so the spring pin in the support pin touches the bolster.
