CONTROLS AND PARTS
RECEPTION OF THE TIME SIGNAL
The reception attempt for the daily automatic synchronisation with the radio clock
time signal is done at 03.00 AM. If this attempt fails, another reception attempt
is performed at 04.00 AM and at 05.00 AM. One successful reception per day is
sufficient to keep the deviation to less than one second.
In Germany, the DCF signal is encoded and
transmitted via a DCF transmitter in Mainflin-
gen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to
1500 km and, under ideal reception conditions,
even up to 2000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes
the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 sec-
ond in a million years!) and the date.
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle
of manually setting summer and winter
times.
The delivered watch is pre-set to the DCF time
signal. However, you can also set other time signals (please see "Setting the time
manually and setting the time zone", further on in these instructions).
If your delivered watch does not yet display the correct time, the reception of the
time signal has to be triggered manually.
Manual Reception Attempt
-
Press the push-button (A) with a pointed object, for more than 2 seconds.
-
The reception symbol and below, a signal strength indication appear in the
display (C).
-
Position the watch so that signal strength indication shows as many segments as
possible.
-
The hands adjust themselves automatically to the current time after a successful
reception of the time signal and the reception symbol appears permanently in
the display (C).
-
Should the hands set themselves to a wrong time, please proceed as described
in "Positioning the hands".
The manual reception attempt can be cancelled by pressing the push-button
(A) again (press and hold for 2 seconds).
The detection of the time signal and its evaluation can last a few minutes.
Do not move the clock, during this time. Do not press any buttons!
Bad reception can occur, for example, by metallised insulated glass, rein-
forced concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic
devices, or installation in cellars.
If the reception symbol in the display (C) goes out after the reception at-
tempt, change the reception location for the watch and restart the reception
attempt, as described above.
Positioning the hands
If the hands do not run exactly to the current time position when you make a recep-
tion attempt, positioning must be performed manually.
-
Press the push-button (B) with a pointed object, for more than 5 seconds.
-
The hands run to the 12 o'clock position and the indication 00:00 flashes in the
display (C).
-
If the hands run to another position, push the push-button (A). Now you can
move the hands manually. If you press briefly, the hands are moved stepwise.
If you press a little longer, the hands begin to run automatically, which you can
stop by pressing (A) again.
-
When the hands have reached the 12 o'clock position, press the push-button (B)
briefly.
-
The watch now starts a reception attempt.
-
The watch automatically sets itself to the correct time after successful recep-
tion.
