e.g. for damage of the housing or crushing, etc.
Never operate the device when it is open.
!RISK OF FATAL INJURY!
Never exceed the maximum admissible input values. Never touch circuits or
parts of circuits with voltages greater than 50 V/ACrms or 75 V/DC! Life threat-
ening!
Unpacking
Check all the parts for completeness and damage after unpacking.
Damaged parts must not be used for safety reasons. In case of any damage

Setting up the Device
Set up the device, using the handle or the device's pedestal, so it can be operated and read
comfortably.
Avoid direct sunlight over a longer period since this could damage the screen.

erating for about 60 minutes within the given operating temperature range.
Ensure suffi cient ventilation of the device. Do not cover or seal the ventila-
tion apertures of the device.

Getting Started

Connect the mains cable provided to the mains connector, at the back of the device, and con-
nect the safety plug to an earthed mains socket.
Switch on the device using the power switch (POWER I/0). The table multimeter is activated
when the switch is in the depressed position.
The device shows a start screen and is ready for operation after a short initialisation phase.
Connect the corresponding measuring cables to the measurement input sockets "INPUT V"
and "COM".
The red connector "V" corresponds with the positive pole for the voltage and resistance meas-
urement; the black connector "COM" is the negative pole.
Use the red connector "A" and the black connector for current measurements.
Select the corresponding measuring function and connect the measuring probes to the meas-
uring circuit
For safety reasons, the specifi ed max. measurement voltage of 500 V to earth
potential and the max. current must not be exceeded.
Remove the measuring cable from the object being measured after fi nishing the measurement
and turn off the appliance.
Installation of the Measurement Software
Before you connect the table multimeter to a computer, install the measurement program.
Switch on the computer and start the operating system.
Insert the provided software CD into the CD drive and close it. The automatic start mode will
automatically start the installation of the measurement program.
If this does not happen automatically, start the program "setup.exe" by double-clicking on the
drive holding the CD-ROM in the Explorer of your operating system. The software installation
will start.
Please follow the on-screen instructions.
A new folder is created in the start menu's program manager.
Leave the CD in the drive for device installation.
Connection and installation of the table multimeter
The RS232 or USB interface to control the table multimeter must fi rst be selected from the set-
up menu. This process is described in detail in the English operating instructions.
Connect the provided USB connection cable to a free USB port on your computer and then with
the USB connection on the back of the table multimeter.
The operating system recognises the new hardware and starts the "Hardware Wizard". The
system automatically searches for the suitable drivers and installs them. You should now be
able to use the device.
If the message "The driver software was not installed" appears, the driver has to be installed
separately, as it has not been recognised by the Windows system.
For Windows 7 proceed as follows:
• Click on "Start" → "Control Panel" → "Device Manager".
In the device manager there is an exclamation mark highlighted in yellow for "Other Devices"
with the text "Unknown Device".
• Double click on "Unknown Device".
• Now install the driver for this device by clicking on the option "Update driver".
• In the window that opens, select " → Search for driver software on the computer".
• Now enter the path of your CD/DVD drive (for example: "D:\") and check "Include subfolders",
then click on "Continue".
• Should a window with "Windows Security" appear with the following text: "The publisher of
the driver software could not be verifi ed", confi rm the installation by clicking on "→ Install this
driver software anyway".
• The driver should now be recognised correctly and you can use the software for the table
multimeter.
If that is not the case, please contact our technical hotline. You will fi nd the telephone number
on the imprint.
For Windows XP/Vista
For the driver installation select the path of your CD/DVD drive and install the driver from the
sub-directory "Driver" on the enclosed CD.
