Gauge arms
Fig. 4-24
The arm is used to:
- Measure the rim distance only in MANUAL mode.
1
Arm, can be removed and folded upwards
2
Feeler rod used to measure the rim (Distance)
for all types of profi les.
4.8
Ultrasonic detector
On the outer side of the rim the machine has an
ultrasound detector for the wheel width (outside of
rim) (Fig. 4-25).
The sonar has a tolerance of +/- 0.5''.
Such error does not jeopardise the accuracy of the
balancing procedure.
4.9
Laser (Pointer / Scanner)
Figura 4-26
The machine has a laser scanner to automatically ac-
quire the wheel distance and diameter (inside of rim).
The machine uses the Laser Pointer to indicate the
precise point for fi tting the adhesive weights on the
rim (F 5.9). The internal scanner also performs the
rim run-out.
Note:
Within the automatic mode the laser scanner
automatically identifies also the location and the
number of rays.
Figure 4-27 The machine is equipped with a rear Laser
scanner for automatic reading of wheel run-out.
Prolonged exposure to laser beams may damage
the eyes.
AVOID DIRECT OR REFLECTED EYE
CONTACT WITH THE LASER BEAM.
• Laser beams used in Snap-on products are rated
as Class II.
Eye protection is normally afforded by aversion
responses, including the blink refl ex.
