SETTING UP THE DEVICE
Set up the device, using the handle or the device's pedestal, so it can be operated and read comfortably.
Avoid direct sunlight over a longer period since this could damage the screen.
In order to comply with the technical tolerance data, the device has to be operating for
about 20 minutes within the given operating temperature range.
GETTING STARTED
Connect the mains cable provided to the mains connector, at the back of the device, and connect the
Schuko plug to an earthed mains socket.
Switch on the device with the power switch (I/0). The oscilloscope is activated when the switch is in the
depressed position.
The device shows a start screen and is ready for operation after a short initialisation phase.
Connect the corresponding measuring lines/probes to the BNC-connector of the input channel CH1 or/and
CH2.
The measuring voltage should only be applied to the internal conductor. The external
conductor (reference earth) is connected to the earth potential (protective earth
conductor).
Touch the object to be measured with the probes.
For automatic signal setting, press the "AUTO SET" button.
This function sets the time base, the vertical deflection and the trigger level automatically to optimise the
signal visualisation on the oscilloscope.
Remove the probe from the object, after finishing the measurement, and turn off the device.
INSTALLING THE MEASUREMENT PROGRAM
Before you connect the DSO to a computer, install the measurement program.
Switch on the computer and start the operating system.
Insert the provided software CD into the DVD drive and close it. The automatic start mode will automatically
start the installation of the measurement program.
If this does not happen automatically, start the program "setup.exe" by double-clicking on the drive holding
the CD-ROM in the Explorer of your operating system. The software installation will start.
Please follow the on-screen instructions.
In the start menu's program manager, a new folder called "DSO-XXXX" is created.
Leave the CD in the drive for device installation.
CONNECTION AND INSTALLATION OF THE DSO
Connect the provided USB connection cable to a free USB port on your computer and then with the USB
connection on the back of the DSO.
The operating system recognises the new hardware and starts the "Hardware Wizard". The system
automatically searches for the suitable drivers and installs them. You should now be able to use the device.
If the message "The driver software was not installed" appears, the driver has to be installed separately as
it has not been recognised by the Windows® system.
The CD contains any driver required.
USB HOST AT THE FRONT OF THE OSCILLOSCOPE
You can connect a USB memory stick to the USB HOST below the display. The USB stick must have a
FAT32 file system (not NTFS or EXT3, etc.) so that it is recognised by the oscilloscope.
The entire screen content (including the currently displayed menus) can be saved via the key "SAVE TO
USB" located in the top right area of the oscilloscope's control panel.
After saving, wait for at least 10 seconds for the storage operation to complete before pulling the USB
memory stick from the oscilloscope. Otherwise, there might be no data on the USB stick when you connect
it to a computer.
CLEANING
Always observe the following safety instructions before cleaning the device:
If you open covers or remove parts – unless you can do this by hand – live parts may be
exposed.
Prior to cleaning or repairing the device, all lines must be detached and the device must
be turned off.
Do not use scouring, chemical or aggressive cleaning agents such as benzene, alcohol or such like. These
might attack the surface of the device. Furthermore, the fumes are hazardous to your health and are
explosive. Moreover, you should not use sharp-edged tools, screwdrivers or metal brushes or suchlike for
cleaning.
Do not press too hard on the display; this can lead not only to scratches but also to the destruction of the
display. The warranty will be void!
For cleaning the device or the display and the measuring cables, use a clean, slightly damp, fuzz-free,
antistatic cloth.
If you are not sure about the correct connection or use, or if questions arise which are not covered by
these operating instructions, please do not hesitate to contact our technical support or another qualified
specialist.
