Overload Clutch (SafeStop)
In order to limit dangerous reaction torque, the
machine is equipped with a safety clutch
(SafeStop).
Nonetheless, high reaction torque can occur
when the tool insert suddenly jams. Always hold
the machine tightly with both hands and en-
sure secure footing.
When the clutch disengages, the drilling spindle
comes to a stop and the ratchet sound of the
clutch disengaging is heard. Switch off the ma-
chine immediately when the clutch disengages.
In the first gear, the clutch disengages at ap-
prox. 33 Nm; in second gear at approx. 13 Nm.
Speed Preselection (PSB 850-2 RE)

The required speed can be pre-selected with
thumbwheel 15 (also while running).
Speed Preselection (PSB 1000-2 RE)
The required speed can be pre-selected with the
power control thumbwheel 3 (also with the ma-
chine running).
Gear Selection, Mechanical
Two speed ranges can be pre-selected with the
gear selector 8:
Speed I: Lower rpm range
Speed II: Higher rpm range
The gears can be switched when the machine is
running or at standstill. However, this should not
be carried out at full load or maximum speed.
Reversing the Rotational Direction
Operate the rotational direction switch 7 only
at a standstill.
Using the rotational direction switch 7, the direc-
tion of rotation of the machine can be changed
(by actuating the On/Off switch 6, the rotational
direction switch 7 can be locked).
Right Rotation (see figure
Press the rotational direction switch through to
the right stop (for drilling, impact drilling, driving
screws, etc.).
Left Rotation (see figure
Press the rotational direction switch through to
the left stop (for loosening and unscrewing
screws and nuts).

Drilling and Screwdriving
Set the selector switch 2 to the "Drilling
and Screwdriving" symbol.
Impact Drilling
Set the selector switch 2 to the "Impact
Drilling" symbol.
The selector switch 2 engages noticeably and
can be actuated with the machine running.
Electronic Torque Limitation/
Speed Preselection
(Power Control PSB 1200-2 RPE)
Drilling with speed preselection
Set the selector switch 4 to the "Drill-
ing" symbol. The required speed can
be pre-selected with the thumb-
wheel 3 (also during running).
Screwdriving with torque limitation
Set the selector switch 4 to the
"Screwdriving" symbol. The effective
torque at the drill spindle can be var-
iably adjusted (0.5 – 10 Nm) with the
thumbwheel 3:
I = low torque
III = high torque
The maximum speed is automatically adapted to
the adjusted torque.
If the pre-selected torque is reached during
screwdriving, the machine switches off and
stops. If the load on the machine is then removed
with the On/Off switch 6 still pressed, the contin-
ued run is at very low speed for safety reasons.
Briefly releasing the On/Off switch 6 automati-
cally restores the previous operating condition,
so that the next screw will be driven in with the
same torque.
Replacing the Drill Chuck
The chuck may be changed only in the first
gear.
Clamp the short end of an Allen key in the chuck.
For models with a keyless chuck, an open-end
spanner (size 19) can also be applied to the front
of the chuck for easier manipulation.
