8.4 Sanding with the band (Fig 6, 11 & 12)
CAUTION:
Always use the limiting plate (1) for horizontal sanding and always use the worktable (6) for vertical
sanding. Using the machine without the limiting plate or the worktable could result in serious personal injury.
* Sanding surface (Fig 11):
- Hold the workpiece firmly, keeping fingers away from the sanding belt.
- Keep the workpiece pressed firmly against the limiting plate (1), and move the workpiece evenly across the
sanding belt.
* Sanding inside curved edged (Fig 12):
Always sand inside curved edges on the idler drum.
- Hold the workpiece firmly, keeping fingers away from the sanding belt.
- Keep the curved edge pressed firmly against the idler drum, and move the workpiece evenly across the sanding
belt.
CAUTION:
Never sand the end pieces of a workpiece on the idler drum. Applying the end of the workpiece on the idler
drum could cause the workpiece to fly up, and could result in serious personal injury.
CAUTION:
To prevent accidents, make sure to turn the switch off and to disconnect the plug from the power
receptacle.
9.1 Inspecting the machine
- Keep the machine clean.
- Since use of a dull tool will degrade efficiency and cause possible motor malfunction, replace the tool as soon as
abrasion is noted.
- All plastic parts should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. NEVER use solvents to clean plastic parts. They could
possibly dissolve or damage the material.
- Clean the dust hood.
- Check the power cord and plug for any wear or damage.
- Check for any loose screws or various accessories. Should any of the screws be loose, retighten them
immediately. Failure to do so could result in serious hazard.
- Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible.
- Regularly clean all parts of the machine using a soft cloth, brush or compressed air. Do not use cleaning agents
or solvents. A general cleaning should be done after every use to avoid future problems and ensure that the
machine is in ready condition for its next use.
WARNING: If blowing sawdust, wear a proper dust mask and eye protection to prevent debris from being
inhaled and blowing into your eyes.
- Keep the machine free of resin and rust. Clean.
- Check all sanding machine accessories (limiting plate, workyable, miter gauge, etc) to ensure that they are in
perfect working condition.
- The machine's ball bearings are lifetime lubricated, sealed, and do not need any further care. Keep the drive belt
free of oil and grease to prevent slipping on the pulleys.
9.2 Changing the sanding disc (Fig 13)
- Remove the worktable (6).
- Unscrew the two Phillips screws ST4.2x10 (12) and remove the disc guard (11).
- Remove the sanding disc and clean the plate properly.
- Refer to the section "Installing the sanding disc and the disc guard" to install the new sanding disc and to reinstall
the disc guard.
9.3 Changing the sanding belt (Fig 5, 6 & 14)
- Loosen the hex socket screw M8x25 (14) by using the hex key.
- Move the sanding belt support into the vertical position, then lock it by retightening hex socket screw (14).
- Pull the belt tension lever (10) toward you to release the belt tension.
- Place the sanding belt over the drive roller and idler roller with the directional arrows running counterclockwise.
