be selected with the button UP or DOWN.

3.1.3 Master / slave mode

Multiple units TWIST-1LED can be operated
in sync. In this mode, a unit (master unit) will
control the other units (slave units).
1) Connect the units in a chain. Please refer
to chapter 3.2.1, skipping step 1.
2) Activate the output of control signals at all
units:
a) Press the button MENU. Display:
b) Press the button ENTER. Display:
c) Switch to the display
ton DOWN (press button twice).

g) Return to the operating mode most
recently set with the button MENU
(press button twice).
3) Set the slave units to the DMX mode:
Switch to the display of the start address
(e. g.
) with the button UP or DOWN.
4) At the master unit, select the operating
mode desired.

3.2 Operation with a DMX controller

For operation via a DMX light controller (e. g.
DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB from "img Stage
Line"), the TWIST-1LED is equipped with
11 DMX control channels. However, it can
also be controlled via 9 or 5 channels only if
the functions provided by these channels suf-
fice (
chapter 3.2.3, fig. 12) or if less than 11
channels are available at the light controller.
DMX stands for Digital Multiplex and
means digital control of multiple DMX units
via a common control line.

3.2.1 Connection

For DMX signal transmission, special cables
should be used (e. g. cables of the CDMXN
series from "img Stage Line"). For cable
lengths exceeding 150 m or when controlling
more than 32 units via a single DMX output, it
appears
is generally recommended to insert a DMX
level matching amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX).
1) Connect the input DMX IN to the DMX out-
put of the light controller or of another
DMX-controlled unit.
2) Connect the output DMX OUT of the first
unit to the DMX input of the second DMX
unit. Then connect the output of the sec-
ond unit to the input of the third DMX unit
etc. until all DMX-controlled units are con-
nected in a chain.
.
3) To prevent interference in signal transmis-
.
sion, for long cables or for a great number
with the but-
of units connected in series, terminate the
DMX output of the last DMX unit in the
.
chain with a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W): Con-
nect an appropriate terminating plug (e. g.
(Master) with
DLT-123) to the DMX output jack.
3.2.2 Setting the start address and
.
For separate control of all DMX units con-
nected to the light controller, each unit
requires a start address of its own. Example:
If the first DMX channel of the TWIST-1LED is
to be controlled by DMX address 6, set the
start address on the TWIST-1LED to 6. The
other DMX channels of the TWIST-1LED will
then be automatically assigned to the subse-
quent addresses. Examples with different
start addresses:
Number

chan-
nels
11
1) Switch on the DMX mode: Press the but-
ton UP or DOWN repeatedly until the dis-
play shows
the number of DMX channels
