Central Heating Water Test Kit
3.3 Measuring of the Electrical Conductivity with the Water-Quality Meter MP-7
Install the conductivity sensor to the meter.
• Release the sensor nut.
• Pull the already installed sensor to the bottom (never turn it).
• Remove the transparent cover from conductivity sensor.
• Stick sensor to the meter, pay attention to the slot guide and attache with sensor nut.
Switch the device on by pressing the button
The display shows µS/cm in the first line.
Clean the sensor always with a clean cloth and water before and after usage. Dip the sensor into
the measuring cup and stir the sensor so that air bubbles are removed.
As soon as the temperature shows stable value you can read the electrical conductivity in µS/cm
on the display. Please note that the automatic temperature compensation only reliably works in a
range of 0 - 50°C.
Switch the device off after usage by pressing the button
Notes on Water Quality:
In natural waters, the electrical conductivity is made out of more than 90% by salts of hardness.
Thus, between total hardness and electrical conductivity there is an arithmetical ratio of
10 ppm CaCo
(1°fH) = ~58,9 µS/cm.
3
If this ratio is strongly disturbed, then you can asume that the water sample was made-up by
softening or treated with chemicals.
Operation-mode key
As long as the conductivity sensor is installed you can switch between the values TDS, SALT and
µS/cm by pressing the operation-mode key.
Press this button for 3-4 seconds to change the temperature reading between °C and °F.
Max & Min / Cache
1. Press this button to store the actual reading in the cache storage.
2. Press this button for 3-4 seconds to activate the max & min mode.
Swap between max & min by pressing this button.
3. Press again for 3-4 seconds to deactivate the max & min mode.
