Stirrer drive

Please pay attention to the operating instructions of the individual component „Stirring Motor"!
The stirrer drive is a firm component of the IKA-Laboratory Reactor System. The following IKA-stirrers are at disposal for this
system:
RE 162 P 4 analog and RE 162 P7 analog (optionally also IKA-Visc-measuring stirrer)
The RE 162 P4 analog is preferably used for the viscosity range 1 - 20.000 mPa s.
The RE 162 P7 analog is used for viscosities of more than 20.000 up to 100.000 mPa.s.
The coupling of the stirrer is fitted to the drive shaft and screw-connected to the coupling flange at the upper end of the stirring
shaft bearing.
Plase note: The stirrer cannot be switched on while the container collets are open.
Container clamping device
The container clamping device is pivoted to the stirrer carrier. Via a crank handle at the right-hand side of the telescopic stand
and via a threaded spindle, the container clamping device can be opened and closed. The collets are provided with thermal insu-
lated PTFE-coatings. Snap closures and collets are screw-connected. The reactor vessel is centered to the reactor cover by
means of the collets. After closing the three snap closure straps, the reactor vessel is drawn tightly against the reactor cover
with three knurled-head screws.

Reactor cover

The reactor cover is provided with four standard openings. These are machined as female parts of ground joints (3 x HNS 29/32
and 1 x HNS 14/23). There is an additional connection for generating a vacuum. All openings are sealed with O-rings. The sea-
ling between reactor cover and reactor vessel is also by an O-ring which is firmly fitted into the cover. ULTRA-TURRAX, thermal
sensor, flow breaker and other accessories can be fitted into the free openings. For this purpose the corresponding screw-
connections are removed by a guide pin and unscrewed from the cover. The guide pin is enclosed in the tool set.
The reactor cover is screw-connected to the stirring shaft bearing via a thread. The cover can be easily dismantled for cleaning
or sterilizing purposes (see section cleaning and sterilization).
Stirring shaft sealing and reactor cover are sealed by an O-ring.
Use of dispersing tools S 25 KV
When using the ULTRA-TURRAX T 25, the following dispersing tools can be used:
S 25 KV - 18 G, SS 25 KV - 25 G or S 25 KV - 25 F
For fitting the dispersing tool into the reactor cover, shaft support LR 2000.40 is required.
Fitting Sequence: Insert retaining ring (2) into groove of shaft (1)
Push shaft from below into shaft support (4)
Insert retaining ring (3) into upper groove
Tighten clamping screws (5) (socket wrench in tool set)
The required retaining rings are part of the supply schedule of the shaft support.
