compressor may be used only for its intended purpose. Accordingly, read the
instruction carefully before use.
Description of Spring Compressor HSC2018
HSC2018 is a unique hydraulic spring compressor with several areas of use.
With its extensive adjustment options the spring compressor works on nearly
all private cars and light commercial vehicles with spring struts, both front and
rear. The spring compressor works with both right and left-hand wound springs.
Dismantling and assembling spring struts
The spring compressor is based on a hydraulic cylinder vertically positioned
in a three-legged stand with two transport wheels. The hydraulic cylinder
is operated using Wallmek's hydraulic pump 1030 or 1036. A lifting unit is
mounted on top of the hydraulic plunger.
The lifting unit consists of two arms with a claw on each, these are adjusted to
grip the lower part of the spring. When the hydraulic plunger is raised the spring
compresses with the weight of the car as a counter hold, and the spring strut is
lifted out of the axle shaft.
The possibility to dismantle the spring strut directly on the car, without
loosening the axle shaft from the car, is unique to Wallmek's spring compressor.
Compression of loose spring struts to replace springs or shock absorbers
A top unit comprising of an adjustable tube with an upper counter hold unit is
fitted on the stand. Even the upper counter hold consists of two arms each with
a claw. Assembled in this manner, the spring compressor is used to compress
springs when dismantling or assembling shock absorbers in the spring.
Hydraulisk stötta
By turning the upper counterhold unit upside down and fitting it on the top
section of the piston, the spring compressor can be used as support when
upward pressure is needed. The accompanying aluminium top is fitted on the
upturned counterhold unit with a dead bolt. In this set-up, with a stroke length
of 430 mm, the spring compressor becomes an ideal tool for the replacement
spindle joints, antiroll bars, powertrains, link arms and exhaust pipe systems.
