4.4.6 ADJUSTING THE SEEDING DEPTH
To obtain a good level at which sprouts come out, the seed needs
to be placed at the right depth into the seeding bed.
Hoe coulter, disc coulter COREX
The seeding depth is adjusted simultaneously for all planting de-
vices through a crank (Q, Fig. 28). By rotating it counterclockwise,
a stronger pressure can be exerted on the planting devices to the
ground by means of the extension springs, thus allowing deeper
seeding.
You can further adjust the pressure, separately, changing the
position of the tie-rod (R, Fig. 28).
With suffolk coulters only a spring (S, Fig. 28) is supplied, as an
accessory, to reset the weight of each individual spring element
(T) when the spring is fully unloaded. Shallow seeding is possible
in this condition.
Disc coulter COREX
With disc coulters is possible to assemble a rear rubber wheel
(Fig. 29), which allows to check the seeding depht. Thanks to a
series of holes, you can set the same seeding depht for all the
coulter elements (Fig. 29).
Z1) minimum depht: 0 ÷ 0,5 cm
Z2) maximum depht: 8 cm
IMPORTANT: we advise against the use of the rear wheel on
moist soils.
On request, the planting unit can be equipped with hydraulic regulation
of the pressure of the furrow openers (U, Fig. 28). This device is ¿ tted
in place of the manual adjuster screws and connected through the
special hydraulic tubes to the tractor distributor (double effect). The
device is operated by moving the lever of the tractor distributor.
During machine operation, the furrower pressure can be increased in
areas where the soil is more resistant to seed penetration.
The blocks (V1-V2, Fig. 28) are used to identify the maximum and
minimum planting pressure respectively that can be applied on the
furrowers and act as end-of-travel pieces for the hydraulic cylinder.
Silgle disc coulter
The depth is determined by changing the position of the limiter
block (Fig. 30), only with single-disc coulters (furrow openers).
IMPORTANT: for seeding in moist soils, to a advanced depth
to 5 cm, it is advised to remove the limiter (Fig. 31).
