GHS6.5, GHS8, GHS14, GHS24, GLS6.5, GLS14 and GLS25
1 No load, no voltage
Possible Cause
• Loss of residual magnetism.
• Stator winding short-circuit
or poor connections.
• Voltage Regulator (AVR)
faulty.
• Rotor windings short-circuit
or poor connections.
• faulty rectifier.
Solution
• Connect a 2 Volt battery for
a short period to regenerate
the field;
plus (+) to 'X' and minus (-)
to 'XX' or,
plus (+) to 'f' and minus
(-) to 'f2'.
• Check the winding resist-
ance. See 'Technical Data'
for resistance values.
• Replace the Voltage regula-
tor (AVR).
• Check the winding resist-
ance. See 'Technical Data'
for resistance values.
• Replace the rectifier (GHS8
only).
Fault Finding, generator
2 No load, Voltage too high or too low
Possible Cause
• Incorrect engine speed.
• Incorrect voltage setting of
voltage regulator.
• Voltage regulator (AVR)
faulty.
3 No load, Voltage oscillates
Possible Cause
• Engine runs irregularly due
to lack of fuel, faulty or
wrongly set fuel pump.
• Incorrect Voltage Regulator
(AVR) stability setting.
• Voltage Regulator (AVR)
faulty.
Solution
• Check engine speed and re-
adjust as required.
• Adjust to the correct volt-
age.
• Replace the voltage regula-
tor (AVR).
Solution
• Ensure the supply of enough
clean water-free fuel.
Have the fuel pump checked
by a specialist and repair or
re-adjust as required.
• Readjust the stability.
• Replace Voltage regulator
(AVR).
