The characteristics of valve amplifiers have been
known for a long time. Their sound has its suppor-
ters in many hifi devices so they still very much
have a part to play these days although transistors
are much more robust and durable as amplifier
components. Even in audio source devices there
are amplifier circuits and with these too, the sound
can be greatly improved by sophisticated ampli-
fier circuitry. Today this approach is taken by only
a few selected manufacturers.

DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLIANCE

The CD-S7 DAC is intended to fill precisely this
gap. It uses a hybrid amplifier with transistors and
valves. A USB input, a coaxial digital audio out-
put and an adjustable headphone output connec-
tion are additional features of the equipment. A
special property of this player is the symmetrical
XLR audio output. The appearance of this device
matches the other audio components from
Vincent's tubeLine. In combination with the tuner
and the amplifier components in this design line a
system can be assembled whose sound and manu-
facturing quality are not common today.
