MAINTENANCE

CAUTION: When performing any maintenance operation, make sure the Power5
unplugged. Never clean the unit by washing. Use a damp cloth to wipe the exterior only.
Do not allow water to enter the unit.

CLEANING PREFILTER

In regular use, the Power5 prefilter should be cleaned every two weeks.
To clean the prefilter, remove the front panel of the Power5 as described below in the
Replacing Filters section. Detach the prefilter and frame. Remove the prefilter and clean it
with a vacuum cleaner. Replace the prefilter and reassemble the unit.

REPLACING FILTERS

Replace filters after the Power5 CHANGE indicator light is on. Replace the filters
immediately if the indicator light begins to flash, to avoid damage to the unit.
All the filters should be replaced at the same time, at least once every 2 years, or when
the CHANGE light indicates, whichever comes first.
Filters may need to be replaced more frequently, depending on operating conditions.
NOTE: If the CHANGE indicator light comes on when the Power5 is first unpacked and
activated, it may be that during shipping the filters were shaken or they picked up dust.
Vacuum the intake slots and the prefilter to remove dust. Make sure the filters are installed
in the proper order. If the change filter light remains on, this indicator can be reset. Refer
to the section below on resetting the filter change indicator.
WARNING: Make sure the unit is unplugged before replacing filters.
1. Remove the front panel of the unit by pressing the two release clips at the sides of the
front panel and pulling it slightly outward at the bottom. Then lift the panel upward.
2. Remove the filter box by grasping the side projections between finger and thumb, and
slowly pulling the box straight out. Lay the box flat.
3. Open the filter box by detaching the front frame/prefilter unit. Remove the filter
components from the filter box.
4. Insert the replacement filter components. CAUTION: Make sure that you insert the new
filters in the proper order. If filters are not placed in the correct sequence, operation
may cause damage to the unit. First insert the HEPA filter, against the back of the filter
box. Then insert the photocatalytic/carbon/nanocopper combination. Make sure that
the front of this combination — marked FRONT — faces the front of the filter box,
toward the prefilter. Replace the filter frame/prefilter on the front of the filter box.
5. The side projections on the filter box have small arrows that indicate which side must
be up. Insert the filter box in the Power5, making sure that the filter frame is facing you
and the arrows on the filter box point upward. Push the filter box all the way into the
interior. Make sure all edges are pushed in evenly. Replace the front panel of the
Power5, by positioning the front panel above the unit over the clips and sliding the
panel downward until it clicks into place.
