Updating Drivers from Specific Location

This procedure upgrades the SYMMPI.SYS driver onto an existing
Windows Server 2003 system from a specific location. When the LSI21320
Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI to PCI-X host adapter is added to an existing
system installation, the new adapter is automatically detected at the next
reboot. When the Device Driver Wizard appears at boot, there are two
selections: Install the software automatically and
Install from a list or specific location.
If you click Install the software automatically, the program
will search the driver database and install the bundled driver if one exist.
If not, it will ask for a location to search. The Install from a list
or specific location goes to another dialog box that gives two
options: Search for the best driver in these locations
or Don't search, I will choose the driver to install.
This allows the user to either tailor the search area (that includes the driver
database), or no search is done and the user just points the wizard to an
exact location. Once at the specific location, follow the promps and the
wizard installs the selected driver.

Windows NT
4.0 Driver Installation
This procedure installs the SYMMPI.SYS driver onto a new or existing
Windows NT system. You will receive a driver diskette that contains all the
drivers for the various Windows operating systems with your system
purchase or as part of your upgrade kit. This driver may also be found on the
CD that shipped with your system or may be found at the Dell support
website at support.dell.com. This driver diskette will provide a choice for
which driver version to install. You will use this diskette during the
installation process.

New System Installation

This procedure installs the SYMMPI.SYS driver onto a new Windows NT
4.0 system. Use this procedure when installing Windows NT 4.0 onto an
unused drive. Windows NT 4.0 automatically adds the driver to the registry
and copies the driver to the appropriate directory.
