Cyclo Turbo XL

Efficient, compact CO
diffusers for aquariums. With waste-gas vent.
2
- Instructions for use: please read carefully and keep in a safe place. -
Congratulations on purchasing this high-quality CO
diffuser from DENNERLE. If used properly and treated with due care, this diffuser will provide your aquari-
2
um with a reliable and consistent supply of CO
– the most important fertilizer for aquarium plants.
2
DENNERLE wishes you lasting enjoyment from your aquarium!
How the CO
Cyclo Turbo works
2
The CO
supplied by the CO
fertilizer system issues from the opening of the CO
2
2
tube. From here, the bubbles rise to the surface and collect beneath the individual
steps of the Turbo attachment.
The water coming from the filter whirls in a downward direction past the ‚trapped'
CO
bubbles. Thanks to this counter-current principle, which is frequently found in
2
nature too, the CO
is able dissolve extremely quickly and effectively.
2
The CO
-enriched water then flows into the aquarium at the bottom end of the whirl
2
chamber
The amount of CO
supplied can be calculated on the basis of the number of bub-
2
bles per minute.
The atomizer jet and waste-gas vent
While the CO
dissolves into the water, other gases that occur naturally in aquarium
2
water penetrate the CO
bubbles. These so-called waste gases explain why the bub-
2
bles become smaller the further up the tank they rise but never dissolve complete-
ly. When the bubbles reach the head of the whirl chamber they already consist
almost entirely of waste gases and contain barely any CO
at all. Here they are
2
drawn into the atomizer jet and split into thousands of tiny bubbles. This allows the
remaining CO
to dissolve before the waste gases are drawn off via the specially desi-
2
gned waste-gas vent.
Cyclo Turbo and aquarium size
Despite their extremely compact design, the Cyclo Turbo products are highly effec-
tive. Given normal CO
requirements, the Cyclo Turbo can supply aquariums of up
2
to 750 liters. For larger aquariums of up to 5,000 liters and those with high
CO
demand, we recommend using the Cyclo Turbo XL.
2
The capacity of both designs can be individually increased to fit any aquarium. For
this purpose, simply add Cyclo extension modules (Order No.: 1588) and Turbo
attachments (Order No.: 1580).
Cyclo Turbo can be used in conjunction with all standard CO
supply systems.

How to install the
Cyclo Turbo correctly
2
1. Rinse the Cyclo Turbo with warm tap water.
Do not use detergent!
2. Insert the control tap into the Cyclo head.
Attach the CO
connector.
TIP: Dipping the end of the hose into hot
water briefly beforehand makes it easier to
slide it over the hose connector.
3. Select a suitable spot in the aquarium to
affix the unit. The spot should not be too
bright, to prevent possible algae growth.
Using the suction cups, attach the Cyclo ver-
tically in the aquarium at least 5 cm below
the surface of the water.
4. Attach the control tap to the water outlet of
the motor filter or a separate pump using a
suitable hose. The Cyclo head can be turned
for this purpose. All standard hoses sized
9/12 mm, 12/16 mm and 16/22 mm
fit.
5. Set the required amount of CO
le valve of the pressure reducer. For this pur-
pose, please also consult the instructions for
use provided with the other components of
your CO
fertilization system

Setting the control tap
supply
With the aid of the control tap
12
it is possible to direct part of the water coming
2
from the filter into the Cyclo cylinder for the purpose of dissolving CO
the water runs through the outlet nozzle
straight back into the aquarium.
• Position A: No water is fed into the Cyclo.
A
• Position B: 50 % of the water is fed into the
B
Cyclo and 50 % into the aquarium.
• Position C: All the water is channeled into the
C
Cyclo cylinder.
The control tap should be set in such a way as to enable as much water as possi-
ble to flow through the Cyclo cylinder without forcing the CO
allowing them to rise slowly.
GB
waste-gas vent is fully open, as can be seen by the large bubbles emitted there. The
more you turn the lid in a counter-clockwise direction, the smaller the bubbles will
become. Turning the lid as far as it will go to the right closes the waste-gas vent.
Please note the corresponding symbol on the lid.
The waste-gas vent should be used in such a way that the waste gases are drawn off
regularly, while allowing the residual CO
to dissolve. To this end, always start with the lid in the "large bubbles" position. If
too many bubbles are expelled from the waste-gas vent, turn the lid slightly towards
the "small bubbles" position.
The right amount of CO
For magnificent plant growth, DENNERLE recommends a CO
supply hose to the hose
2
um of between 15 and 30 mg/l, between 20 and 25 mg/l is ideal. The
number of bubbles per minute required to achieve this CO
number of factors (types of plants used, water current, surface area/volume
ratio, etc.). This is why it is always necessary to determine the CO
each aquarium individually. Rule of thumb for the basic setting: start with approx.
10 bubbles per minute per 100 l of aquarium water; e.g., for a 200-l aquarium
use 2 x 10 = 20 bubbles per minute. Check the CO
in the aquarium water regularly and adjust the CO
if necessary, only ever increase the CO
al days!
Please note: the more vigorously the surface of the water is set in motion (e.g.
by filters, additional aeration), the more CO
again.
DENNERLE Professional Tip:
• It is easiest to measure the CO
test from DENNERLE. This test directly and permanently indicates the
CO
content of the aquarium water via corresponding colouring. GREEN cor-
2
responds to the optimum value of between 20 and 25 mg/l. No further aids
on the need-
2
or water testing are necessary to determine CO
Cleaning the Cyclo Turbo
Clean with warm water and a soft sponge. Do not use any detergents. The Cyclo
can be fully dismantled for cleaning. The inner components can be cleaned using
a soft bottle brush.
What do I do if ... – troubleshooting
The Cyclo Turbo operates reliably and problem-free and does not require any spe-
cial maintenance. Should it not function properly, however, the faults are very
easy to remedy.
