Inspection and maintenance

Inspections
Your electric scooter was developed such that it requires
only minimal maintenance. However, like all motorized
vehicles, it requires regular maintenance work. In order
for you to enjoy your electric scooter for many years, we
recommend observing the following maintenance points
according to the plan:
Weekly inspection
Check the following points every week or prior to driving.
If you notice an abnormality, contact your Drive Medical
dealer for advice or to schedule an inspection.
Steering column
Ensure that this is not loose and that it can be easily con-
trolled.
Speed controller
Ensure that this can be smoothly adjusted.
Control levers
Ensure that the electric scooter drives when the lever is
pressed and stops when the lever is released.
Motor
Check for unusual noises and that the electromagnetic
brake is operating correctly.
Neutral lever
Ensure that it is working properly.
Seat
Ensure that it can be easily rotated and snaps into place.
Tires
Check the tread depth and take note of signs of damage,
such as checking tire pressure (2.5-3.5 bar).
Monthly inspection
Perform a visual inspection of the cable harness of the
control system. Ensure that this is not frayed or cut and
that no wires are exposed.
Keep the control system clean and protect it from rain or
water. Keep the hubs free of lint, hairs, sand, and carpet
fibers.
Perform a visual inspection of the tire tread. If this demon-
strates damage or wear, have the tires changed by your
dealer on site.
Check the seat and backrest occasionally for sagging,
cuts, and tears. Replace if needed.
All moving mechanisms are maintained through simple
lubrication and inspection.
Apply grease or a light oil. Do not use too much oil, since
small drops can lead to staining and damage carpets,
clothing, etc. Always generally check whether all nuts
and screws are tightened.

Semiannual inspection
Check the carbon brushes (motor brushes). We recom-
mend that your dealer check all brushes every six months
or less if your electric scooter does not operate smoothly.
If the inspection reveals excessive wear of the carbon
brushes (motor brushes), these must be replaced since
otherwise the motor will be damaged.
The carbon brushes (motor brushes) should be checked
for wear and the color of the mesh inside the spring. If
the mesh is dark brown, red, silver, purple or golden, the
carbon brush (motor brush) must be replaced.
Inspection or replacement of the motor brushes
Loosen the caps of the carbon brushes (motor brushes)
(by using a screwdriver on the caps).
Remove the carbon brushes (motor brushes).
Check the carbon brushes (motor brushes) for wear (ex-
change if less than 6 mm).
Replace the carbon brushes (motor brushes) if needed.
Check the condition of the battery connections every
six months. Ensure that they are not corroded and that
the connections are secure. Regularly apply a thin film of
Vaseline to the connection surfaces to protect them from
corrosion.
Annual inspections
To ensure that your electric scooter is properly main-
tained, have it inspected regularly by your Drive Medical
dealer. We recommend having the electric scooter main-
tained at least once annually. This service is not free of
charge.
