The amount of condensation that forms is influenced by the temperature and
humidity of the room air. Recommended values in continuous operation:
30 °C (86 °F): 80 % r. h. = approx. 80 litres/day, 60 % r. h. = approx. 40 litres/day
20 °C (68 °F): 80 % r. h. = approx. 40 litres/day, 60 % r. h. = approx. 22 litres/day
15 °C (59 °F): 80 % r. h. = approx. 28 litres/day, 60 % r. h. = approx. 16 litres/day
10 °C (50 °F): 80 % r. h. = approx. 16 litres/day, 60 % r. h. = approx. 11 litres/day
(r. h. = relative humidity)
Water residue can drip from the condensation drain hose (4) after dehumidifi-
cation/drying.
4. Maintenance
4.1. Maintenance
WARNING
Pull out the mains plug before maintenance work!
Clean the REMS Secco 80 regularly especially when it has not been in use for
a long time. Store the device in a frost-proof location. Empty and clean the
11.5 l condensation tank (9).
5. Faults
5.1. Fault: REMS Secco 80 does not start.
Cause:
● Power cable defective.
● Device defective.
● The humidity set on the device is higher than the humidity in the room.
● 11.5 l condensation tank (9) (accessory, Art. No. 132100) was inserted
incorrectly in the REMS Secco 80.
● Condensation tank switch set incorrectly (5).
5.2. Fault: On reaching the humidity set on the REMS Secco 80, the device does not switch on or off.
Cause:
● The controller only switches the device on/off when the humidity exceeds/
drops below the set humidity by 3 %.
● Continuous operation is set.
5.3. Fault: REMS Secco 80 switches off although the humidity set on the device has not yet been reached.
Cause:
● In cold ambient temperatures and/or in continuous operation, the unit can
ice up, the icing symbol (18) is shown in the display (2).
● Power cable defective.
● Device defective.
5.4. Fault: The dehumidification performance diminishes.
Cause:
● Air filter mat/air filter flap (17) soiled.
● Using REMS Secco 80 reduces the humidity, this also reduces the amount
of condensation.
5.5. Fault: Error messages E1 or E3 are shown in the display (2).
Cause:
● The humidity of the room is outside the measuring range ≤ 30 % or ≥ 90 %
of the REMS Secco 80.
● Sensor for measuring the humidity is defective.
5.6. Fault: Error messages E2 or E5 are shown in the display (2).
Cause:
● Sensor for compressor temperature monitoring is defective.
5.7. Fault: Error message E4 is shown in the display (2).
Cause:
● 11.5 l condensation tank (9) (accessory, Art. No. 132100) is full.
● Condensation tank switch set incorrectly (5).
Clean the air filter mat regularly. To do this, pull the air filter flap (17) which is
fastened by a magnet. Pull out the wire rods. Clean the air filter mat and the
air filter flap (17) for example with a suitable vacuum cleaner or under running
water. Renew the air filter mat if necessary. Allow the air filter mat and air filter
flap (17) to dray before re-assembling.
Clean plastic parts (e.g. housing) only with REMS CleanM machine cleaner
(Art. No. 140119) or a mild soap and a damp cloth. Do not use household
cleaners. These often contain chemicals which can damage the plastic parts.
Never use petrol, turpentine, thinner or similar products for cleaning.
Make sure that liquids never get inside the device.
4.2. Inspection/Repair
WARNING
Pull out the mains plug before carrying out maintenance or repair work!
This work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
Remedy:
● Change power cable.
● Have the apparatus checked/repaired by an authorised REMS customer
service workshop.
● No dehumidification necessary or correct the humidity setting on the device,
see 3. Operation
● See 2.4.
● See 2.3. and 2.4.
Remedy:
● Wait or correct the humidity setting on the device, see 3.
● Change the operating mode, see 3.
Remedy:
● The device is equipped with an automatic hot gas thawing system.
This is regulated by the device. The device starts the dehumidification/drying
automatically after thawing, the icing symbol (18) switches off. Switch off the
REMS Secco 80 if icing occurs at short intervals. Wait until the ice has thawed
completely. Then continue dehumidification/drying.
● Change power cable.
● Have the device checked/repaired by an authorised REMS customer service
workshop.
Remedy:
● Clean/replace parts, see 4.1. Maintenance
● Check whether the dehumidification/drying can be set.
Remedy:
● Set the device to continuous operation, see 3. Operation
● Have the device checked/repaired by an authorised REMS customer service
workshop.
