1. Technical Data
Use for the intended purpose
WARNING
The electric air dehumidifier/building drier REMS Secco 80 is intended for drying
and dehumidifying rooms, e.g. after mains water damage, flooding, dehumidification
of damp cellar rooms etc. and for fast drying of concrete, masonry, plaster and screed
for example. For commercial use in trade and industry.
All other uses are not for the intended purpose and are therefore prohibited.

2.1. Electrical connection
WARNING
Caution: Mains voltage present! Before connecting the electric air dehumid-
ifier/building drier REMS Secco 80, check whether the voltage given on the
rating plate corresponds to the mains voltage. Only connect devices of protec-
tion class to a socket/extension lead with a functioning protective contact. On
building sites, in a wet environment, indoors and outdoors or under similar
installation conditions, only operate the REMS Secco 80 air dehumidifier/building
drier on the mains with a fault current protection switch (FI switch) which inter-
rupts the power supply as soon as the leakage current to earth exceeds 30 mA
for 200 ms.
If the REMS Secco 80 dehumidifier/building drier is permanently connected to
a fixed cable, it is recommended to operate it by a fault current protection switch
(FI switch) which interrupts the power supply as soon as the reference difference
tripping current exceeds 30 mA.

See Fig. 1.
2.3. Installation of the REMS Secco 80 with draining of the condensation into
an external tank or directly into a drain pipe
Place the REMS Secco 80 in the centre of the room to be dehumidified. The
minimum distance from the wall must be 200 mm. Close all doors and windows
to the outside. Remove the detachable power cable from the tray (1) and connect
it. The backlight of the display (2) comes on briefly. Press down the flap on top
of the condensation tank (3) to open it. Push the hose for draining the conden-
sation (4) through the hole in the housing from the inside to the outside. Feed
the condensation draining hose (4) into a suitable tank or connect it to a hose
which feeds directly into a drain pipe. Set the condensation tank switch (5) in
the direction of the symbol showing the crossed out tank. Close the flap of the
condensation tank (3).
REMS Secco 80 is equipped with an operating hours counter (7) and an elec-
tricity meter (8).
2.4. Installing the REMS Secco 80 with draining of the condensation into the
11.5 l condensation tank (9) (accessory, Art. No. 132100)
Place the 11.5 l condensation tank (9)
(accessory, Art. No. 132100) in the box so that the flag of the float is within the
bar of the light barrier (10). Push the hose to the condensation tank (4) into the
opening of the 11.5 l condensation tank. Set the condensation tank switch (5)
in the direction of the symbol showing the not crossed out tank. Close the flap
of the condensation tank (3).
REMS Secco 80 is equipped with an operating hours counter (7) and an elec-
tricity meter (8).

2.5. Use the exhaust air set (accessory, Art. No. 132104)
132101
With the exhaust air hose (11) for distributing the exhaust air in the room, the
132102
exhaust air can be used to dehumidify cavities, e.g. suspended ceilings, and
132104
for blow drying wet surfaces. Fasten the connecting flange (12) to the REMS
140119
Secco 80 with the four screws provided (Fig. 2). Push the exhaust air hose (11)
onto the collar of the connecting flange and fix it with a lashing strap. Fastening
eyes are provided for hanging up/fastening the exhaust air hose.

NOTICE
3
Only transport/store the REMS Secco 80 in an upright position. Do not lie it on
its side! Leave the REMS Secco 80 to stand for at least one hour before putting
into operation.
3. Operation
I
Air dehumidification/building drying can take several weeks until the moisture
has been drawn out of concrete, masonry, plaster and screed etc. The room
temperature can increase slightly when using REMS Secco 80. Use a hygrom-
R-407 C
eter for additional monitoring of the humidity.
0.820 kg
Switch on the REMS Secco 80 with the On/Off button (13). All the symbols are
≤ 10 bar
shown briefly in the display (2), then the currently measured relative humidity
≤ 25 bar
(14). The device is pre-set to 60 % relative humidity. Set the desired humidity
between 30 and 90 % with the two buttons (15). Briefly pressing the button
changes the value by 1 %,; keep the button pressed for longer for fast adjust-
ment. The humidity value (14) in the display (2) changes automatically after
setting and shows the currently measured relative humidity again. The device
regulates the humidity of the room to be dehumidified/dried and switches off
on reaching the set humidity. The device switches back on when the room
humidity increases. For continuous operation, set the humidity to < 30 % with
the buttons (15) until "CO" is shown in the humidity display (14). The humidity
is not regulated during continuous operation; the device dehumidifies perma-
nently. When the 11.5 l condensation tank (9) (accessory, Art. No. 132100) is
used, the device switches off when the condensation tank is full. Then the
"condensation tank" symbol (6) and "E4" are shown in the display (2) and an
acoustic signal sounds intermittently. Empty the 11.5 l condensation tank and
put it back in. Dehumidification/drying is continued. There is no need to switch
off the device to empty the 11.5 l condensation tank.
The memory function of the REMS Secco 80 ensures that the set humidity
value is retained in the event of a power failure. The device then automatically
continues dehumidification/drying with the previously set value. The compressor
switches on with a delay of approx. 3 minutes for protection. The compressor
symbol (16) flashes in the display (2), but the fan starts immediately.
NOTICE
When draining the condensation into an external tank, it must be ensured that
this is emptied regularly and that the hose to the condensation drain (4) is laid
into the tank with a downward gradient. If the condensation is drained directly
into a drain pipe with a hose, this must also be laid with a downward gradient.
Also check whether the hose to the condensation drain (4) is inserted into the
opening of the 11.5 l condensation tank (9). Do not bend the hoses to the
condensation drain. If you do, the condensation will overflow over the edge of
the collection tray in the device and spill onto the floor.
