Fish Symbols vs. Full Sonar Chart
Fish I.D. is an easier way for a sonar novice to recognize a fish return
when it appears on the screen. Locating fish by fish symbols does have
some limitations.
Your sonar unit's microprocessor is powerful, but can be fooled. Some of
the echoes shown as fish could be tree limbs or turtles. To see what's
under your boat in maximum detail, we recommend you turn off Fish
I.D. and begin learning to interpret fish arches.
Tip:
If you are going to be in another part of the boat or busy with an-
other task, turn on Fish ID and set the audible fish alarm. An
alarm will sound when a fish is detected by the unit.
