The product must be installed only by qualified personnel, according to the local safety standards and regu-
lations. It is classified as Class II, in accordance with EN 60065 and, for this reason, it shall not be connected
to the protective earth (PE) of the supply mains.
The product must be used in accordance with the operating instructions of this manual.
Installation warnings
•
Use only the original power cable, installing the product so that the mains plug is easily accessible.
•
The product must not be exposed to dripping or splashing and thus it shall be installed indoors, in a
dry place.
•
Humidity and condensation could damage the product. In case of condensation, wait until the product
is dry before using it.
•
Don't install the product above or close to heat sources, in dusty places or where it might come into
contact with corrosive substances.
•
Leave enough space around the product housing to ensure sufficient ventilation; an excessive tempera-
ture and/or an excessive heating may affect the performance and the life of the product.
•
In the event that the unit is fixed to the wall, use the proper screw anchors suitable to the characteristics
of the fixing support.
In accordance with the European Directive 2004/108/EC (EMC), the product shall be installed using devices,
cables and connectors that allow to comply with this directive requirements for fixed installations.
Earthing of the antenna system
The product must be connected to the earth electrode of the antenna system, in accordance with standard
EN60728-11. It is recommended to follow the provisions of the standard EN60728-11 and do not connect this
terminal to the protective earth (PE) of the supply mains.
IMPORTANT:
Only trained and authorized personnel can perform maintenance operations on the product.
Never remove the lid of the feeder as there are live parts inside.
2.1 PRODUCT FEATURES
SAF-HD is a settable SAW filter headend for the distribution of digital terrestrial TV signals, equipped with
4 inputs for the connection of the antenna signal: 3 inputs for the UHF band and 1 input for the III/FM/DAB
band. The headend can filter and convert up to a maximum of 10 digital channels within the UHF band (7
channels for the SAF-HD 7 version) and it mixes channels with the signals coming into the III/FM/DAB band.
The headend can be programmed through the keyboard and LCD display integrated in the unit or by means
of the FHM (Fracarro Headend Management) software. The headend can be completely managed remotely.
The configuration can be saved in the USB pen drive and copied into another headend of the same model;
the operation is easy and fast by means of a USB pen drive.

The product is equipped with the automatic equalization function that allows for the automatic regulation of
the gains of the filtered channels. Furthermore, each single filter is equipped with an automatic gain control
(AGC) circuit that keeps the level of the output signal constant when the input signal level varies.
By programming the unit, it is possible to enable the remote power supply on each UHF input for mast pre-
amplifiers, if any, (max. available power 200mA@12V).
The product is cooled by means of natural convention without fans.
