2. Intended use, indica ons & contraindica ons
Intended use:
It is easier to prevent pressure ulcers than to treat them. Bedsores
can be avoided by changing frequently lying or sea ng posi ons
to avoid stress on the skin and to minimize the risk of pressure on
vulnerable bony areas. Other strategies include skin care, regular
skin inspec ons and good nutri on.
Using an alterna ng overlay ma ress can help relieve pressure.
Ideal to prevent stage I bedsores.
This air alterna ng ma ress system is designed for pa ents who are
at risk of pressure of ulcers or require treatment for exis ng pressure
ulcers. This device is intended to treat and prevent pressure ulcers
by facilita ng blood circula on, reac ve hyperaemia and decreasing
interface pressures.
The use of this system does not replace the regular reposi oning,
monitoring, and nursing of the pa ent.
Indica ons:
• Preven on of pressure ulcers in high-risk pa ents
• Pain management
• Treatment of exis ng pressure ulcers
• Preven on of skin breakdown, bedridden pa ent
Contraindica ons:
• Unstable fractures of vertebrae and condi ons of the vertebrae.
• Gross oedema, burns or an intolerance to mo on
The PROTECTOR III set contains a pump equipped with quick
connector and cap, visual low pressure alarm and correct pressure

11 feature a microven la on func on. The pad is equipped with a
CPR strap and enables a rapid air defl a on in case of an emergency.
The quick connector features a transport func on : the cap allows
to stop air loss when necessary to transport the pa ent in the bed
to another room.
This set includes one free air cell for repairs, easy to replace by the
user in case of damage.

on. The switch indicator should now illuminate, and pressure must
be adjusted to MAX posi on.
5. Allow 20 minutes for ma ress to infl ate fully.
6. Cover with a sheet and tuck loosely.
7. Please use pressure adjustable knob to give maximum pa ent
comfort.
8. Correct working pressure is indicated by a green lamp „PRESSURE
NORMAL".
9. In case that yellow indicator „PRESSURE LOW" appears, it might
be, that there is damage somewhere in ma ress pad or air tubes.
Stop using pad, and locate the damage. If you don't fi nd any damage
- please contact service.
