Connecting the trailer connection unit
10. Plug in the trailer connection unit (Fig. 1/11) at the bottom of the component carrier front
(Fig. 1/9).
11. Insert the 16-fold connector housing of the socket cable set into the intended slot of the trailer
connection unit and let it lock into place.
12. Insert the 12-fold connector housing of the on-board network connecting cable set into
the intended slot of the trailer connection unit and let it lock into place.
13. Only for 13-pin trailer socket (> 07/2006):
Using the 3-pin connector for the constant plus extension kit, the functions "Constant plus"
and "Ground for constant plus" can be retrofitted.
14. Only for 13-pin trailer socket (08/2007 >):
Using the 3-pin connector for the constant plus extension kit, the functions "Constant plus",
"Charge lead" and "Ground for constant plus" can be retrofitted.
15. Slide a pre-cut piece of foamed material over the 3-pin connector housing of the socket cable
set. Slide pre-cut piece of foamed material over the 3 pin connector.
Carry out the following work steps for vehicles having their battery installed at the rear:
16. Connect the 2-pin connector of the enclosed short 2-core cable set to the counterpart of the
socket cable set (use pre-cut piece of foamed material).
17. Fit the following fuses and components to the enclosed fuse holders as follows:

18. Let the quick-connect receptacle of the two red cables (Fig. 2/5) and of the red/blue cable
(Fig. 2/4) lock into place in the first fuse holder.
19. Let the quick-connect receptacle of the single red cable (Fig. 2/5) and of the red/black cable
(Fig. 2/4) lock into place in the second fuse holder.
20. Install the yellow clip (Fig. 2/6) in each fuse holder.
21. Insert the fuse (Fig. 2/2) and fit the cover (Fig. 2/1) to both holders.
