2) Hold the microphone (1) always in direction of
the sound source.
3) If more than 90 dB are measured, "OVER" is
displayed. Then set the range switch (6) to the
upper position "Hi".
If in the range "Hi" less than 75 dB are
measured, "UNDER" is displayed. Then set
the range switch to the mid-position "Lo"
again.
4) To measure the sound level according to the
perception of the human ear, set the right,
white sliding switch (4) to the position "A". In
the position "C" the physical sound level is
measured (linear).
5) To hold the maximum level, set the medium
white switch (3) to the position "MAX". "MAX"
is displayed. To measure the present level, set
the switch back to the position "RESET"
again.
6) In case of quickly fluctuating sound levels the
display may not respond quickly enough.
Then it may be more favourable to set the left,
white switch (5) to the position "S". Now the
display does not fluctuate so much; the
measuring values approximately represent
the average level.
Notes
a. The measured sound level largely depends on
the distance of the meter to the sound source.
For measuring, a defined distance must be
kept (e. g. 1 m for speaker measurements), or
the distance has to be indicated at which the
measurement has been carried out.
b. The measured level depends on the angle to
the sound source as well. If necessary,
measure the levels in case of different angles
