MP3 and WMA

< This unit can play MP3 files recorded on various external USB
storage devices such as USB flash memory, MP3 player or HDD.
The HDD must be formatted in FAT 16 or FAT 32, not NTFS.
< When more than 2000 files are recorded on the USB memory, the
unit might not be able to play them correctly.
< File names of MP3 or WMA files should be in alphanumeric
characters. This unit cannot display symbols or full-size or double-
byte characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. Also, be
sure to use the file extension. (".mp3" for MP3 files, ".wma" for WMA
files.)
< MP3 files are mono or stereo MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 format. This
unit can play MP3 files with a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz or 48
kHz, and a bit-rate of 320 kbps or less.
< This unit can play WMA files with a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz
and a bit-rate of 192 kbps or less.
WMA stands for Windows Media Audio.
< Audio encoded at 128 kbps should sound close to regular audio
CD quality. Although this player will play lower bit-rate MP3 files,
the sound quality becomes noticeably worse at lower bit-rates.
< Max number of playable folders: 99

USB: 1999

USB Storage Devices

CAUTION
Never turn the unit off or disconnect a USB storage device
when it is being accessed, for example, during writing,
playback, recording or the erasure of files.
Doing so could damage the CD-P650 and the connected USB
storage device.
Compatibility
< Use a USB storage device with power consumption of less than
500mA.
< Some flash memory players that charge from a USB terminal
cannot be used for playback.
< This unit cannot copy or move files.
< Playable formats: FAT12, FAT16, FAT32
< NTFS, HFS and HFS+ formats cannot be used.
< Depending on the conditions of a USB storage device, this unit
might not be able to play the files on it or skipping might occur.
Recording
This unit can record sound from CDs to USB storage devices in MP3
format. See page 24 for details.

iPod Compatibility

This unit can be connected to and used with the following iPod
models.
iPod (5th generation)
iPod classic
iPod nano (1st to 5th generation)
iPod touch (1st to 3rd generation)
< You cannot use following models in "Direct Mode" of the Display
mode or for the timer:
iPod (5th generation)
iPod nano (1st/2nd generation)
See page 22 for information about the Display mode.
< This unit cannot output video from a connected iPod.
< To connect an iPod, use the USB cable supplied with the iPod.
< An iPod shuffle connected to this port cannot be played.
Compatible iPod Software
In case your iPod will not work with CD-P650 or with the remote
control unit, a software update may solve the problem.
