► Place the barrier bar (4) in position over the holes in the
loop handle.
► Insert the screws (8) and tighten securely. Ensure that the
handle and barrier bar are tight and will not move during
operation.

13.2 Adjusting the Loop Handle

The loop handle can be set in different positions to suit the
height and reach of the operator.
To adjust the position of the loop handle:
► Switch off the power tool, @ 16.2.
► Remove the connecting cord, @ 15.2.
► Loosen the screws (2) that attach the loop handle to the
trimmer shaft.
► Slide the loop handle (1) to the desired position, subject to
the following limitations:
– Always keep the spacer (3) positioned between the loop
handle and carrier ring.
– If you are working with an FS-KM KombiTool mounted
with a mowing head, the distance marked "a" must be
less than 11.8 in. (30 cm).
– If you are working with an FS-KM KombiTool mounted
with a metal cutting attachment, the distance marked "a"
must be less than 9.8 in. (25 cm).
► Tighten the screws until the loop handle is secure and can
no longer be moved along the drive tube.

14 Using a Battery Harness

14.1 STIHL AR Backpack Battery

14.1.1 Positioning and Adjusting the Connecting Cord

WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury from tripping or losing control of
the power tool, always secure the connecting cord through
the backpack guides and with the hook and eye fasteners as
described below. Position and secure the connecting cord
so that it will not interfere with proper working technique or
your ability to maintain control of the power tool.
WARNING
Manage the cord to prevent it from contacting the
cutting/working attachment or catching on objects, which
could cause you to lose balance or control of the power tool,
resulting in serious personal injury and property damage.
The connecting cord can be secured in different positions
and adjusted to suit the height and reach of the operator.

The connecting cord can run through the guides on the
shoulder straps (Illustration A) or along the back
plate (Illustration B). Secure the connecting cord to the
backpack with the hook and eye fasteners (1) on the side of
the body where the power tool is held and controlled. Do not
allow the connecting cord to swing across your body or hang
at your side.
