2.2 Assemble and fit the Snail tape
F You can install the Snail tape and terminal box along the
wall of a house, on a plank of wood, garden border, a piece
of plastic etc. The important point is to position the Snail
tape and the terminal box vertically (upright). First screw
the connector in the planned position.
Ensure the side with the high-voltage cables is facing
down to prevent rain water from remaining inside.
NB: in order to connect the wire to mains, you must have
an earthed socket.
G Carefully pull away approximately 5cm from the
conductors/wires from the top/front of the Snail tape and
cut off the surplus green plastic tape (approximately 5cm).
NB: Do not damage the 3 white wires/conductors at the
top!
H Now position the 3 loosened wires (A) in the three grooves
at the front of the connector; easy to achieve with a small
screwdriver. Cut away any surplus wire (B) and ensure
there are no remaining small, loose wires that may cause
short-circuiting between the three wires.
I Now attach the Snail tape by using the supplied screws.
We recommend you fit the Snail tape with one screw
every 10cm, alternating between the top and the bottom
(zigzag). Do not apply screws less than 5mm away from the
conductive wires. Alternatively you can glue down the Snail
tape to a panel or other type of sturdy surface.
J If the Snail tape is fitted in a circle, repeat the actions as
described in steps G and H, but now for the end of the
Snail tape. Cut away any surplus length of Snail tape.
ATTENTION!
Do not let the Snail tape rest directly on the soil, as damp or rain may cause a short-circuit
in the connection between the conductive wires in the Snail tape. This will produce neither
danger nor damage, but it will produce a drop of voltage in the electric fencing; the current will
no longer reach the Snail tape and the electric fencing no longer works until the short-circuit
between the wires has been removed!
