Indoor station:
! The maximum range of the wireless signal is approx. 100m (and up to
150m in optimal conditions) with line of sight contact between indoor and
outdoor station. Within buildings the range is greatly reduced by walls and
floors, in particular those made of steel reinforced concrete, to a maximum
of 20m. Metal housings, shelves and mirrors also block the wireless signal.
! The wireless transmission can also be affected by strong electric fields and
other wireless equipment. Ensure an adequate distance to microwave
ovens, cordless phones, mobile phones, wireless devices in the 2.4GHz
frequency band, electric motors and high voltage devices or power cables.
! The indoor station must be placed on a solid and level surface, ideally 1m
above the floor (optimal reception). Alternatively it can be mounted on a
wall.
! Place the indoor station in a central position in the dwelling, eg. in the
hallway. Make sure that the chime can be heard throughout the dwelling.
! Arrange the indoor station at face height so that you can observe the
monitor and can communicate using the hands-free system. Directly
opposite or slightly down onto the monitor are the best viewing directions.
Take account of the height of all residents including children when
determining the mounting height.
! Ensure that there is a mains power socket for the mains adapter within the
range of the mains adapter cable.
8. Installation and connection of the outdoor
station
! Hold the drilling template (side 42) at the proposed mounting location
and drill the four fixing holes (position A). Drill 5 mm holes and insert the
wall plugs [43].
! If the antenna is to be positioned on the inside of the wall then drill a
10 mm hole (position B) for the antenna cable. Push the antenna cable
through this hole so that the 90° connector is on the side of the wall where
the outdoor station is fitted (see Fig D). If the mains adapter is to be used
then push the connection cable [27] through the hole so that the the
exposed ends are on the side of the wall where the outdoor station is fitted.
If a door release is to be fitted then push a two core wire (not supplied) also
through the hole.
! If the antenna is to be fitted directly onto the outdoor station and the mains
adapter or a door release is to be used then drill a 5 mm hole (position C).
Push the connection cable through the hole so that the the exposed ends
are on the side of the wall where the outdoor station is fitted. If a door
release is to be fitted then push a two core wire (not supplied) also through
the hole (see Fig. C).
! Remove the cover [18] from the lower edge of the outdoor station [1] and
drill the fixing holes [19] through the cover from the inside.
! If the sun shield is to be used (this is in any case necessary when the
antenna cable is used) fix the two self adhesive washers [25] around the
two lower fixing holes on the flat side of the cover. The washers serve for
spacing to the wall.
! If the mains adapter or a door release are to be used then push the
corresponding cables through the seal [20].
30 - GB
! If neither the mains adapter nor a door release is to be used then replace
the seal [20] with seal [21].
! Push the O-ring seals [23] onto the fixing screws [22] and fix the cover
[18] with the four fixing screws to the wall, if required firstly position the
sun shield [24] and fix this with the two upper fixing screws.
! Remove the nameplate [5] by pulling the name plate tab [17] and write
the family name as required. Replace the name plate. A spare name plate
[26] is provided.
! Place 6 AA alkaline batteries (not supplied) with correct polarity into the
battery compartment [13] or fix the connecting cable [27] for the mains
adapter to the mains adapter connection [14] (black cable to DC- and red
cable to DC+). If required, fix the connecting cables for a door release to
the door release connection [15] (UNLOCK-, UNLOCK+).
! Connect either the antenna [29] or the 90° connection of the antenna
cable to the antenna connection [3].
! Place the outdoor station [1] onto the cover [18] and pull the wires taut
through the wall. Firstly push in the upper edge and then the lower edge of
the outdoor station. Fix the outdoor station with the security screws [8]
using the screwdriver [9]).
! If the antenna cable is used then mount the bracket using the nut on the
free end of this cable. Fix the bracket to the inside wall so that the cable
connection is pointing upwards. Screw the antenna [29] onto this
connection (see fig. D). Close the hole on the upper side of the sun shield
using the seal [23]. If used, connect the cable for the door release (+12 V,
-0 V) to the door release (not supplied). Observe instructions in the manual
for the door release.
! Connect the plug of the connecting cable [27] with the DC-socket of the
15 V DC mains adapter [28]. Connect the mains adapter with a suitable
mains power outlet.
9. Fixing and connection of the indoor station
! Fold out the stand [39] to stand on a level surface.
! To hang the monitor on the wall secure the wall bracket [46] with the 4
screws [48] through the fixing holes [45] into the screw holes [40]. Fix the
2 screws [44] into the wall with a horizontal separation of 30 mm using
the plugs [43] if necessary. The screw heads should protrude 2 mm from
the wall. Now hang the keyhole slots [47] over the screw heads.
! Twist the antenna [41] upright.
! Connect the DC-plug of the 5 V DC mains adapter [49] to the mains
adapter connection [38] of the indoor station.
! Connect the mains adapter with a suitable mains power outlet.
