PLEASE NOTE
!
The filter is solely intended for use in garden ponds.
!
The filter is not suitable for filtering water warmer than 40 °C.
!
Do not use in combination with oil, petrol or lubricants. The filter is not frost-
resistant. It is therefore recommended that the filter should not be used during
the winter months.
!
The filter must not be used submerged.
INSTALLATION
The VEX filters are supplied complete with all the necessary filter materials, which
should be carefully rinsed before use. Place the bio-filter balls at the bottom of the
filter and on top of them place the foam filter ring. Position the lid with the UV-C
cylinder and close the filter using the clamps. Assembled correctly, the filter is
watertight up to a working pressure of at least 0.5 bar.
Connecting the pump
There are 3 connections on the filter lid, fitted with hose sockets. Connect the pump
to the center socket (in). The left socket (out) is the discharge to the pond. The right
socket is the dirty water outlet meant for rinsing the filter material. Using the knob on
the cover the outflow can be moved from 'run' to 'clean' . Use a hose with a diameter
that corresponds with the diameter of the pump outlet. Saw off the unused dia-
meters on the hose socket. The use of hose clips is recommended to prevent the
hoses slipping off.
The maximum pump output for the VEX-100 is 3,000 l/h.
The maximum pump output for the VEX-200 is 6,000 l/h.
The maximum pump output for the VEX-300 is 8,000 l/h.
After the filter has been positioned correctly and the pump has been connected,
the built-in UV-C Unit can be switched on.
The UV-C Unit
The VEX Pond Filters are supplied complete with a built-in UV-C Unit; the VEX-100
with a 7 Watt Unit, the VEX-200 with a 9 Watt Unit and the VEX-300 with an 11 Watt
Unit. The UV-C PL lamps have a service life of approx. 7,000 hours. This corresponds
with a seasonal use from March to November. It is recommended that a new UV-C
PL lamp be fitted at the start of the season. The advantages of UV-C are meanwhile
widely known; it clarifies green water and is an excellent aid in combating bacterial
infections. The VEX filters have a separate chamber, which prevents the UV-C ra-
diation coming into contact with the filter materials. So the micro-organisms in the
filter material are not harmed. The UV-C PL lamp can be simply replaced by loosen-
ing the UV-C Unit under the grey cover and taking it out of the cylinder. First, pull the
red slider upwards to unlock the UV-C Unit. Carefully remove the quartz glass by
loosening the ring and replace the lamp.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of the VEX filters is extremely simple. With the knob in 'clean' position
the filter material can be rinsed. The pump will guide the water in opposite direction
