5. PRODUCT OPERATION

The headend is protected against short-circuiting the 1V socket. In these events that cannot be detected
by the headend, the feeder goes under protection. After the short-circuit or overload is eliminated, the
control unit switches on again. On the contrary, disconnect and reconnect the power supply cable.
On the top of the headend there is an earth screw to connect the unit to the antenna earth in accordance
with EN50083-1, part 10.
Use a cable lug to connect the cable to the screw.
The headend is provided with an RF input, for mixing the terrestrial signal, to give one output with the
DTT channels re-modulated in the RF band. If you do not want to mix the terrestrial signals on the RF
input then use the CA75F included in the accessory pack. Connect the RF output to the distribution
network.
More than one headend can be installed on one site. In this case the output of the units can be mixed
using the RF input or by using an external combiner (see the Fracarro catalogue).
Use the numeric keypad on the front of the unit to program the receivers. The backlit display shows
programming information and the status of the headend.
The compact headend consists of 6 digital receivers connected to a programming unit.
Each receiver has a TV 174-30 and 470-86 MHz input and a loop-through output to connect to other
receivers. Connect the incoming signal from the antenna to the input. 1V 100mA available on the
socket between receiver 3 and 4 inputs. It allows to feed remote accessory, by means of D.C. inserter
(see example of installation on page 16). Use loop-through outputs to connect several receivers to the
same antenna.
Each receiver has its own microprocessor to manage digital channels. The programming unit allows:
* each receiver to be programmed
* each modulator to be surveyed in a programmable time frame
* errors to be shown by the RED flashing LED)
