Applications
GB
The PSUB-215AK and PSUB-218AK are powerful
active subwoofer systems in rugged wooden cabi-
nets. They are suited as a low-frequency comple-
ment to existing speaker systems, e. g. in combina-
tion with the active speaker systems PAK-210MK2,
PAK-212MK2 or PAK-215MK2 when a convincing
bass reproduction is required.
The subwoofer systems feature a crossover
network with an adjustable crossover frequency
(35 – 200 Hz) which divides the signal between the
subwoofer and a speaker system connected to the
high pass outputs.
A phase reversal switch allows to reverse the
phase in connection with other speakers.
The stand sleeve on the upper side of the sub-
woofer offers a mounting facility for a speaker sys-
tem.

Setting Up
Set up the subwoofer on solid ground. When using
a single subwoofer, it is not important to place it
exactly in the middle between the stereo speakers
as it will not be possible to precisely locate the very
low frequencies reproduced by the subwoofer.
However, do not place it too close to walls or in cor-
ners; this would distort the frequency response and
prevent the heat dissipation of the integrated ampli-
fier.
It is possible to mount another speaker system
on top of the subwoofer system. For this purpose,
insert an adapter with a tube diameter of 35 mm
(e. g. from the PAST series of "Img Stage Line") into
the stand sleeve on the upper side of the sub-
woofer, then fasten a speaker system equipped
with a stand sleeve on its lower side on top of the
subwoofer system.
When positioning the subwoofer system, always
allow air to flow freely through the air vents on the
rear side to ensure a sufficient cooling.

Connecting
Prior to making connections or changing any exist-
ing connections, switch off the subwoofer system
and the units to be connected.
5.1 Connecting a signal source
Connect a signal source with line level (e. g. output
of a mixer) to the combined XLR / 6.3 mm jacks
INPUT (1). The jacks are designed for connection of
balanced signals (pin configuration
To connect signal sources with unbalanced out-

puts, use a 2-pole 6.3 mm plug or an adapter with
the XLR contacts 1 and 3 connected.
The inputs are designed for stereo signals (R =
right channel, L = left channel). A mono signal for
the subwoofer is internally created from the two
stereo channels of the signal source.
For stereo operation of two subwoofer systems,
only connect one channel to each system.
5.2 Feed-through outputs
The XLR jacks PARALLEL OUTPUT (2) are con-
nected in parallel to the jacks INPUT (1). These
jacks allow to connect e. g. another active speaker
system or active subwoofer system which is to
receive the same input signal.
5.3 High pass outputs
Unlike the signal at the feed-through outputs, the
signal at the outputs HIGH-PASS OUTPUT (3) is
affected by the internal crossover network. At these
outputs, only the signal parts above the cut-off fre-
quency adjusted with the control FREQ (5) are
present.

5.4 Power supply

Connect the mains cable provided to the mains
jack (11) and the plug to a mains socket (230 V~ /
50 Hz).

CAUTION Never adjust a very high volume. Per-
Note:
1) Set the control GAIN (4) to minimum (left stop)
for the time being. Switch on the subwoofer sys-
tem with the POWER switch (10); the POWER
LED (9) lights up.
2) Reproduce music via the entire speaker system.
Adjust the volume of the subwoofer with the con-

manent high volumes may damage
your hearing! Your ear will get accus-
tomed to high volumes which do not
seem to be that high after some time.
Therefore, do not further increase a
high volume after getting used to it.
To prevent switching noise, always switch on the
signal sources connected first, then switch on the
subwoofer and after that switch on the units con-
nected to the outputs of the subwoofer. When
switching off, proceed in the reverse order.
