6. Stopping operation,
Switching the machine off

6.1 Interrupting the program

A program which is running can be interrupted by pres-
START
sing button (6)
. The interruption is indicated
STOP
by a flashing display message:
Break
20 Ltr.
Pressing button (6) again allows the program to conti-
nue.

6.2 Stopping the program

To stop a brewing program, switch the machine off with
ON
button (1)

OFF
6.3 Switching the machine off
The machine should be switched off overnight and
during longer breaks.
Switch off the machine with button (1)
Switch off the storage urn (16).
Close the on-site water tap and switch off the mains
electricity supply.
The built-in timer has an energy reserve of about 48
hours. If the machine is left unconnected from the elec-
tricity supply for a longer period, the clock will stop run-
ning and will have to be reset on starting operation
again (see section 8. „Setting the timer - settings", page
10).
7. Cleaning
Caution: When cleaning the machine, parts must not be
immersed in water, doused with water, sprayed down with a
water hose or placed on a surface which is cleaned with a
water hose or high-pressure cleaner.
Professional coffee machines often represent a considera-
ble investment, whose value should be maintained. A well-
maintained coffee machine not only looks good, it also pre-
pares better coffee over a longer period of time. MELITTA
therefore provides you with an integrated cleaning and care
program.

7.1 External cleaning

Wipe all plastic parts, painted surfaces and stainless
steel surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use any abra-
sive substances or sharp objects.
Spray stainless steel surfaces lightly with Swirl-EST
clean-ing agent, leave for 2 minutes and wipe off with a
dry cloth.

special cleaning properties. Propellant: Propane/buta-
ne. Pressurized can. Protect from direct sunlight and
temperatures above 50° C. Do not force open or burn
after use. Do not spray into flames or onto red-hot
objects. Do not breathe in fumes; provide good air cir-
culation. Keep out of reach of children. Do not spray
into eyes.
After breathing in: Relax, fresh air, poss. seek doctor's
advice. After body contact: Remove soiled clothes,
wash thoroughly with water. After eye contact: Rinse
with plenty of water. After swallowing: Rinse mouth out
immediately, poss. seek doctor's advice.

7.2 Cleaning the storage urn

Pour 20 - 50 g/litre of water of Swirl cleaning agent
3000, Order No. 1011012, into the storage urn.
Caution: The cleaning agent contains phosphates,
percarbonates, potassium carbonate and sulphates.
Irritates eyes and skin. Swallowing endangers health.
Keep away from children. Store in a cool and dry
place.
Do not mix with other products.
After bodily contact: Remove soiled clothing, wash
thoroughly with water. After breathing in: Consult doc-
tor if problems arise. After skin contact: Wash imme-
diately with plenty of water, rinse well. After eye
contact: Rinse several times under running water with
eyelid open. In case of persistent pain, consult doctor.
After swallowing: Swill mouth and drink plenty of water.
Consult doctor if problems arise.
Place filter on the storage urn.

Press button (6)
STOP
and fill the storage urn with hot water.
Clean the urn with a brush.
Discharge the liquid via the fast-action tap (17).
Rinse the urn with hot water (start filtering program
again).
7.2.1 Sight glass
Pull out the cap from the sight glass cover and clean
the sight glass (14) with the sight glass brush provided
(Order No. 200981).
7.2.2 Fast-action tap
Screw off the upper part of the fast-action tap (17) and
clean the flow channel with the sight glass brush.

8. Setting the timer

Move from one menu point of the timer setting to the next
by
using button (5)
(forwards).
In this way you can call up the following points one after an-
other:
- Switching on time „Hour"
- Switching on time „Minute"
- Days of the week
to start the filtering program
