Lighting
SAEY inset fires make use of the unique system of reverse combustion, which implies that big logs lie at the bottom,
with kindling on top. After lighting the kindle, the fire will increase automatically because of the air intake at the top of
the appliance.
SUGGESTION
If there is still a backdraught of flue gases 15 minutes after lighting because of the weather conditions (strong wind or
fog, for example) the fire should be extinguished until the weather improves.
Stoking
In order for the appliance to reach the preferred temperature and as a consequence limiting the release of harmful
substances, please take the following instructions into account:
1.
Always open the air supply prior to filling wood
2.
Use the wood poker to spread out the burning ashes over the base
3.
Leave air supply fully open for a few minutes until you get the fire going again
4.
Now adjust the air supply until nice, stable flames develop
When the supply of oxygen to the fire is obstructed, the combustion will be incomplete and many harmful substances
will be released. To reduce the side-effects of this process, it's best to let the fire burn for half an hour at full power
every day that it is used.
Also avoid adding excessive fuel. As a result , too much heat is released and the temperature in the appliance can rise
too high.
Frequently add small loads of wood for an optimal combustion. This is better than charging
a lot of fuel at once.
