9.1.4. Wheelbase

The wheelchair's stability and steadiness is improved by extending the
wheelbase. Conversely, if the wheelbase is reduced, the manoeuvra-
bility is improved. Reducing the wheelbase is only recommended for
experienced riders.
If the wheelbase is changed, then it is essential to
adjust the knee lever brake as well!

9.2. Adjusting the parking brakes

To adjust the brakes, contact your dealer. Please bear
in mind that if the brakes are set incorrectly this can
have life-threatening consequences.
If the brakes are not working properly or evenly, contact your dealer. He
will test the brakes as follows:
If there is uneven wear on the tyre tread, or the tread is no longer
visible, replace the tyres.
If the tread is not visible at the brake pins, replace the brake pins.
Move the braking system to a position that offers a safe braking
effect in all driving situations and can be actuated.
To adjust the gap, undo the two socket screws on the brake bracket
(Fig. 44).
Then push the brake system to the correct position along the
bracket.
Finally re-tighten the two socket screws.
Check whether the brakes click into place when operating the lever
and that they don't snap back.
Then tighten the screws again and carry out a brake test!
Make sure that both drive wheels have the same air
pressure of 7.5 bar.
