COUPLING ASSEMBLY
STYLES 995 & 995-M
ALWAYS CHECK GASKET SUPPLIED TO BE
CERTAIN IT IS SUITED FOR THE SERVICE IN-
TENDED. REFER TO VICTAULIC GASKET SELEC-
TION GUIDE (05.01).
ALWAYS LUBRICATE GASKET FOR PROPER
COUPLING ASSEMBLY.
NOTE: Victaulic lubricant is NOT recommended for
use with polyethylene pipe.
"S" Max.
1. SQUARE CUT PIPE ENDS: Pipe ends
must be cut square as shown "S" within ¹⁄₈"
(3.2 mm) on pipe 2 - 4" (90 - 220 mm) and
within ⁵⁄₃₂" (4 mm) on 5" (140 mm) and larger
sizes. Ensure pipe ends are clean and free from
damage or scratches within 1" (25.4 mm) from
ends. Remove cutting particles.
2. MARK PIPE: Using marking tool or a sharp
yellow marking pencil and measuring tape,
mark off each pipe end at ¹⁵⁄₁₆" (24 mm) for 2 -
12" (50 - 315 mm) sizes, 1³⁄₁₆" (30 mm) for 14"
(355 mm) size, 1⁷⁄₁₆" (37 mm) for 16 - 20" (400 -
500 mm) and at the insertion depth location
found on the insertion depth chart (shown on
page 7). Provide at least four equally spaced
marks on sizes 2 - 4" (90 - 220 mm), and marks
every 3¹⁄₂ - 4" (90 - 100 mm) on larger sizes.

3. PLACE GASKET OVER PIPE ENDS:
Place gasket over both pipe ends. Push ends
together until they butt. Align pipe marks with
outer edge of gasket.
NOTE: Space between pipe ends must never exceed
¹⁄₄" (6.4 mm) on sizes 2 - 4" (90 - 110 mm) and ⁵⁄₁₆" (7.9
mm) on sizes 5" (140 mm) and larger. Refer to Insertion
Depth charts on page 7.
4. LUBRICATE BACK OF GASKET: Lubri-
cate back of gasket using corn oil, soybean oil,
glycerin, silicone oil or silicone release agent.
DO NOT use Victaulic lubricant, hydrocarbon
based oils, greases or soap based solutions as
these may react with pipe material.
