do this,insert t heempty capsule holder intothe
spout r ing,placea receptacle u nder t hecoffee
spout a ndruntheequivalent of oneor twolarge

remains continually lit, yourmachineis again
readyfor use.

Read these instructions
carefully before using your
Nespresso m achine.
Donotplugthemachine i ntoanything other
thana grounded e lectrical socket. Verify that
thevoltage indicated o nthetechnical specifi-
cations plate onthebottom of theunitcorres-
ponds to yourelectrical installation.
Donotplace yourNespresso machine o na
hotsurface (electrical heating platefor
example) or neara flame.
Donotremove thecapsule h older fromthe
spout r ingwhilethemachine i sfunctioning
since the extraction of coffee is done under
highpressure.
Donotusethemachine w ithout t hedriptray
andgrillin place.
Remove theplugwhen cleaning y ourmachine.
Ensure that the electrical cord does not come
intocontact with sharp or hotObiects. Donot
disconnect theelectrical plugbypulling on
the cord.
Avoidtouching theelectrical cordaswellas
anyother partwhich maybecome h otduring
theuseOfthemachine (steam nozzle, c hrome
portion of capsule holder).
Never p lunge themachine i n water.
Keepthemachine andtheelectrical cordout
of children's reach.
For descaling, adhere to thedirections which
follow.
Donotusethemachine if it is damagedor if
the cord is in bad condition.
• The cordor anyother defective element must
bereplaced e xclusively byanauthorized
after-sales service centre. Under no circum-
stances should youopen themachine y ourself.

Preparing the machine (1-3)

• Remove thewatertankby liftingitoutby its
lid (l) and fill it withwater(2).
• Maximum capacity: V.81 = about 36
Nespresso espresso cupsor about 18
cappuccino cups.
• Applying lightpressure t o facilitate theope-
ningof thebottom valve, p utthewatertank
back intoplace(3)and closethelid.
Since water qualityisessential to a good
Nespresso, w e recommend t hatyou•
• Usefreshtapwater.
• Change thewaterin thetankdaily.
Clean the tank at least once a week.
Weadvise younottouse distilled o rmineral water.
