4.3.2 USB storage medium

For recording on a USB flash drive (Flash EEPROM memory), plug it into
the USB jack (23) after opening the rubber cover (20). The connected
storage medium is supplied with power from the recorder.
Note: It is not possible to use a USB storage medium when the recorder
is connected to a computer or a power supply unit via the mini USB jack
(22).

4.4 Computer

For data exchange with a computer connect the computer via the sup-
plied cable to the mini USB jack (22) when the recorder is switched off.
In this case the recorder is also supplied with power from the computer,
then the rechargeable batteries inserted into the recorder are charged.
Caution: If non-rechargeable batteries are in the battery compartment of
the recorder, they must be removed from the recorder prior to connection
to the computer as they may overheat, leak or explode when trying to
charge them!

4.5 Power supply

The recorder can be operated with batteries or be supplied with power
via the mini USB jack (22).

4.5.1 Inserting or replacing batteries

For battery operation insert two batteries or NiMH rechargeable batteries
of size AA. Rechargeable batteries may be charged in the recorder when
a computer or a power supply unit is connected to the mini USB jack (22)
[
chapter 4.5.2].
1) To unlock the battery compartment cover (27), slightly press its lower
edge upwards (direction of arrow) and open the cover upwards.
2) Insert the two (rechargeable) batteries, as indicated in the compart-
ment.
3) Close the battery compartment.
If the unit is not used for a longer period of time, the batteries should be
removed. Thus, possible damage to the unit can be prevented in case the
batteries leak.

4.5.2 Power supply via the mini USB jack

For power supply of the recorder via USB open the rubber cover (20) and
connect the mini USB jack (22) via the supplied cable to a power supply
unit (5 V, 500 mA min.) with USB output jack of type A (e. g. PSS-
1000USB from MONACOR). When connected to a computer, the unit is
supplied with power via the computer. Then the recorder is in the data
transfer mode (
after the recorder has been logged out with the function "Safely remove
hardware" in the operating system of the computer.
If rechargeable batteries are in the battery compartment (27), they are
charged via the mini USB jack (22) in case of power supply. The recorder
may remain switched off. During operation, while charging, the battery
symbol
flashes on the display (3).
Caution: Non-rechargeable batteries must always be removed prior to
using this jack as they may overheat, leak or explode when trying to
charge them!
chapter 9). Recording or replaying is only possible
