4. Maintenance

4.1. Stuffing box
Generally a damaged or leading spindle packing has to be changed or tightened immediately, otherwise a new packing can leak
again after a short period.
Spindle packing design is shown in the relevant technical data sheets. Spindle packing are available as a spare parts set from
the manufacturer. For ordering a replacement spindle packing always give the serial number of the valve (found the name on
plate "W. Nr.").
4.2. Changing of spindle packing
•
Ensure ake valve and piping are pressureless and empty
•
in order to replace the spindle packing the actuator must be removed (for this procedure, see the operating instructions for the actuator
in question).
•
loosen and remove cap nut (411)
•
remove the old packing set and clean packing compartment
•
clean valve spindle
•
insert new packing set according to sectional drawing
•
tighten cap nut (411) and fit actuator onto valve and check limit switches
Caution! For pure graphite packing, toostrenuous tightening will cause high friction, which detracts from the valve
olperation.
4.3. Changing of bellows seal
The bellows seal and plug assembly is one unit and must always be changed together. Therefore new bonnet gaskets (503) are
also necessary.

ensure valve and piping are pressureless and empty .
•
to change the bellows seal the actuator has to be removed. (as above)
•
two-way and diverting valves:
mixing valves:
•
remove safety stuffing box (441)
•
open screw (451) and grub screw (449)
•
remove plug assembly (300)
•
remove gasket (444) and clean gasket area
•
assemble new plug (300) and new gasket (444). Put in grub screw (449) to prevent twisting
•
assemble new safety stuffing box (441)
•
two-way and diverting valves:
mixing valves:

fit actuator onto valve and check limit switches for applicable torgue, please see table in appendix.

remove bonnet (201) from body (101)
remove B-flange (601) from body (101)
assemble bonnet (201) with plug assembly (300) and valve body (101)
assemble B-flange (601) with body (101) and tighten bolts gradually, diametrically in
5000-8010
