2.2.
Actuator mounting
Valves are normally delivered with the actuator already fitted on valve. For removing or changing the actuator please refer to
installation and operating instructions of actuators.
Caution!
The valve spindle of valves with bellows seal must not be twisted (this can destroy the bellow seal).
If the actuator is removed the valve spindle can be pressed up due to the pressure of the medium.
2.3.
Electrical connection
Electrical connection of the actuator must be done according to operating and installation instructions of actuators.
Caution!
Switch off power as per instructions
before connecting compare type of current, power and frequency with the data on the actuator name plate.
2.4.

Pneumatic connection

Provide every valve with a separate air pressure regulator to prevent disconnection risk.
Caution!
Avoid moist air in all cases to prevent condensate in system. Especially positioners need dry, oil free instrument
air.

3. Commissioning

Valves are already adjusted and a function test is done at the factory. An adjustment of the actuator is therefore not necessary.
The control valves of the MV 5_41 / PV 6_41 series are factory preset to 100% open at circulation gate AB => B. (See the 5741-
7010 documentation for the fine adjustment procedure for the Kv value.)
Start up may only be started when the items of chapter 2 "Installation and connection" are done.
At start up the following items have to be considered.
Leakage of spindle packing and valve
For valves with pure graphite spindle sealing the sealing can be tightened carefully till leakage is stopped. All other spindle
sealing systems have pretensioned spring system, which does not require any retightening.
Attention! Strenuous tightening will cause high friction, which aggravates detracts the movement of the spindle.
Flange connection bolts should never be loosened or tightened when the valve is under temperature and pressure, even if
a leak occurs.
Check the sizing of the control valve.
In normal operation the valve should operate at 70 to 100 % of maximum stroke.
Max. flow rate is not reached: check if the valve is really 100 % open
valve operates at too
small a stroke:
Checking the control
In all cases, check it the control loop is stable. An unstable control loop (hounting / oscillating instability ) causes premature
wear. In this case please contact the manufacturer.
For electric actuators the time gap between changes of direction of actuator should be at least 200 ms. The minimal
stepping time in one direction should be least 50 ms.
At 9 maximum 1200 steps per hour.
02/2013
check if check valves are opened and strainers are cleaned.
check if actual operating data corresponds with design data
check any manual stop valves (if pre???) are opened and strainers are clear.
To prevent premature wear the valve design should be adopted to the
actual operating data.
Measures should be discussed with manufacturer.
