4. Information and notes before getting started
This product extends your existing audio system with return
channel speakers, allowing you to generate surround
sound with a 2.1 channel system.
When you use a source that does not provide an actual
Dolby Surround signal, the kit recalculates the signal to
simulate surround sound.
4.1 Getting started with the remote control
Remove the protruding safety strips from the battery
compartment of the remote control by pulling them out.
The battery has already been inserted so this will render
the remote control ready to use.

4.2 Replacing the battery

• Open the battery compartment cover (9) on the back of
the remote control by sliding the closing tab (8) to the
right and pulling out the battery compartment cover.
• Remove and dispose of any used batteries.
• Insert the new battery (AA). Take care of placing the
new battery according to the right polarity. (Positive side
upward, negative downward)
• Close the battery compartment. Make sure that the cover
closes easily and tightly.

5. Getting started

• Connect the power cable to a properly installed and
easily accessible power socket.
• The power supply units are suitable for mains voltages
between 100 and 240 V, allowing them to be used in
almost any AC power grid. Please note that a country-
specific adapter may be necessary.
• You can find a selection of compatible products at www.
hama.com.
Note
• Only connect the product to a socket that has been
approved for the device.
• The electrical socket must always be easily accessible.
• When using a mult-socket power strip, make sure
that the sum power draw of all the connected devices
does not exceed its maximum throughput rating.
• If you will not be using the product for a ling period
of time, disconnect it from mains power.

5.1 Positioning in the room
Note
• The housing of the speakers is made of hard plastic.
Avoid subjecting them to direct sunlight, moisture
(in the kitchen or bath), or direct proximity to air
conditioning systems.
• Situate the speakers on a level, stable surface.
• Alternatively, the speakers may be attached to the
wall using the included wall mounting fixtures.
• Older TV sets may generate magnetic interference.
If you experience interference, increase the distance
between the product and the picture source.
Remove all of the supplied components from the
packaging.
• Set up the transmitter in a place where the LED indicator
and IR sensor point in your direction.
• Place the receiver directly behind you with one speaker
each to the left and right of it.
• The distance between the transmitter and the receiver
should not exceed 10 metres.

5.2 Connecting the cables

You can use the analog and digital audio inputs to connect
your terminal device and play its audio signals using the
product. You can connect it using a 3.5-mm audio minijack
cable, an RCA cable, or an optical signal cable.
Note
• Connections via an optical signal cable are less
susceptible to electrical or magnetic interference than
those using a 3.5-mm audio minijack cable.
